Grimsby Town will open the doors of Blundell Park to themselves and Morecambe this weekend where the Shrimps are having a fantastic start to the latest season with another win in the FA Cup over the weekend.
Across the board right now, Morecambe are having the best start to a season in League Two in recent memory. They also kept this form going with a 2-1 win away to Lincoln City last time out, as goals from Michael Mellon and Tom Bloxham secured passage into the next round of the FA Cup first round.
Last time out in League Two, however, they would suffer a 1-0 loss away to Barrow after smashing Wimbledon 4-1. This saw Michael Mellon get a sensational second half hat-trick, as an own goal sealed the fourth.
Further wins over Sutton United, Colchester United and Tranmere Rovers throughout October handed Morecambe a four-game winning run in League Two during that period, as the club would also draw with Accrington Stanley 1-0 and defeat Barrow in the EFL Trophy - Charlie Brown, Cameron Rooney and Cammy Smith all scored that day for the Shrimps. Better yet, this also means the only loss Morecambe suffered was to Barrow in the league throughout October.
Morecambe come into this game having now lost four times and won eight games from the 15 matches, and with a game in hand over sides around them, the club could rocket themselves into as high as third if results go their way and if they can continue to win. They've also now scored 23 goals and let in only 17 as well.
As for Grimsby, it's been a horrific season for them so far with Doncaster Rovers adding to the woes last year and sending them down into 21st in the League Two table. Worse yet, the club couldn't even get past Slough Town in the FA Cup first round after a 1-1 draw last Sunday, meaning a replay goes down at Blundell Park this coming Tuesday.
In fact, you have to go all the way back to early October to see the club's last win in the league, as they edged past Barrow in a 2-1 win. Nevertheless, they sit only four points above the bottom three and without much hope of cracking the top half anytime soon, as they are eight adrift of MK Dons in 12th.
