Harrogate vs Crewe Prediction, Tips & Stats

Crewe Alexandra will be aiming to record back to back victories for the first time since November as they travel to The EnviroVent Stadium to face Harrogate town on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts find themselves in 20th place in the League Two table and are currently dangerously close to the relegation zone, only two points above safety. However, the Sulphurites have two games in hand over Hartlepool and Rochdale and a win this weekend could help to distance them from the ensuing relegation scrap.

Simon Weaver’s side come into this weekend following a poor run of results which has seen Harrogate only win one of their last eight league games, drawing three and losing four. However, their one victory came against Carlisle, a side who currently sit in 3rd place in the table.

Harrogate were in midweek action as they travelled to Salford on Tuesday evening. After extending his relationship with the Sulphurites this week, Jack Muldoon celebrated his new deal by notching the opener. However, the Ammies levelled late on through Matty Lund as the points were shared with the game finishing 1-1.

Crewe currently occupy 17th place in the League Two table, having amassed 35 points from their 29 league games so far this campaign. The Railway men have won eight, drawn eleven and lost ten of their league games.

Crewe also featured in midweek action on Tuesday evening as they hosted struggling Hartlepool. Their evening was made significantly easier when Jamie Sterry received a red card in the 13th minute, giving the railwaymen a man advantage for the best part of 80 minutes. Lee Bell’s side were able to capitalise on the numerical advantage and comfortably won on the evening thanks to first half goals from Callum Ainley and Ryan Finnigan.

Prior to Tuesday, Lee Bell’s side were in the midst of a poor run of results, which had seen Crewe go without a win in six league games. Bell will be hoping that his side can take confidence from their win in midweek and start brightly this weekend.

The only competitive meeting of these two sides came in the reverse fixture at the start of this season's League Two campaign. On that occasion, Late first-half goals from Dan Agyei and Kelvin Mellor and a third from substitute Courtney Baker-Richardson wrapped up a convincing 3-0 victory for Crewe.

In recent years, Crewe have struggled during trips to Yorkshire and have won just one of their previous ten Football League away games in Yorkshire, beating Doncaster 2-1 in League One in October 2020.

Harrogate are favoured at the bookies ahead of this meeting and are currently priced @ 1/1 to win, whilst an away victory for Crewe is priced @ 13/5. We are backing Luke Armstrong to score first as he has been in impressive form this campaign, having netted ten times in the league so far this season.

            Harrogate Team News

Harrogate defender Kayne Ramsey is set to miss the rest of the campaign after he suffered a fractured, cheekbone and eye socket, as well as a broken nose and displaced jaw during Harrogate's game against Carlisle.

            Crewe Team News

Crewe have a long list of injury concerns to deal with, including deadline-day signing David Amoo, who suffered an ankle problem in Crewe’s game against Leyton Orient. Other players out of action are Kelvin Mellor (knee), Courtney Baker-Richardson (hamstring), Zac Williams (hamstring) and Chris Long (ankle).
