Notts County are looking to get a grip on the League Two promotion race as they face Harrogate Town this weekend.
Harrogate Town currently sit 18th in League Two with seven wins, three draws and ten losses from twenty games this season.
It’s been a predictably tough season for the Yorkshire side this far who, as expected, find themselves languishing in the bottom portion of the league table.
They’re coming into this game in pretty poor form having won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five games in the league.
Their latest league outing did, in fairness, see them claim an impressive 2-2 draw against 2nd place Wrexham thanks to goals from Dean Cornelius and Anthony O’Connor.
However, Harrogate then followed that result up with a thumping 5-1 defeat at Bolton in the FA Cup so they may be coming into this one a wounded animal.
Despite the point against Wrexham their form at home has been quite a worry in recent games as they’ve failed to win any of their last five league games on home soil.
This is another tough home fixture for Harrogate and while the point against Wrexham will give them hope that they can claim another positive result here they’ll have to be at their very best to take all three points.
Notts County currently sit 6th in League Two with eleven wins, three draws and seven losses from twenty-one games this season.
On the whole it’s been a positive start to life back in the football league for Notts County who sit inside the playoff places following promotion last season.
There will, though, be some disappointment over how their season has developed given they were dieting at the top of the league not all that long ago and were being tipped left, right and centre for an automatic promotion place.
They’re entering this game amidst a run of up and down form having won two and lost three of their last five games in the league.
Most recently they fell to a hugely disappointing 1-2 loss at home to Walsall in the league, a game they’ll be kicking themselves at having lost against a side well in the bottom half of the table.
They can ill afford to lose fixtures like that if they consider themselves a serious promotion contender and now need three points here to get back on track.
All possibilities are still on the cards for Notts County this season but they need major changes if they are to find their best form once again.
Some momentum definitely wouldn’t go amiss but they need a few wins on the bounce to start accumulating that and given they’ve lost both of their last two league games on the road there is no certainty of three points here.
For our Harrogate vs. Notts County prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.
