Harrogate Town vs Stockport Preview, Tips & Stats

Stockport travel to Wetherby Road to face Harrogate Town this Saturday in a big weekend in League Two. The two sides sit in opposite halves of the table, meaning Stockport will be looking to go top of the table and Harrogate will aim to get into the top half of League Two.

Harrogate currently sit 15th in League Two after 12 games. With five wins, one draw and six losses, leaving them with 16 points so far. This also leaves Harrogate four points adrift of the final Play-off place.

In their last five games in all competitions, Harrogate have two wins and three losses. George Thomson opened the scoring against Salford with his early penalty, with Sam Folarin doubling Harrogate’s lead six minutes later. Curtis Tilt and Matt Smith drew Salford level, but a late goal from Abraham Odoh gave Harrogate the 3 - 2 win. The next game against MK Dons was decided with an own goal. Warren O’Hora scored an own goal to give Harrogate the 1 - 0 win.

There was another 1 - 0 scoreline coming Harrogate’s way, but not for them. Omar Bugiel scored in the sixth minute for Wimbledon, who then restricted Harrogate to just three shots as Wimbledon won 1 - 0. However, Harrogate bounced back against Newport County. Thomson and Anthony O’Connor both scored in the 2 - 1 win for Harrogate, with Will Evans scoring for Newport.

The last time out for Harrogate was against Accrington Stanley in the Football League Trophy. Folarin managed to bag a brace along with a goal from Joe Mattock, but Harrogate still slumped to a 5 - 3 loss.

Stockport, on the other hand, sit second in League Two. The Hatters have seven wins, two draws and three losses, leaving them on 23 points, just one point behind league leaders Notts County.

In their last five games in all competitions, Stockport have five wins. Isaac Olaofe was the main man for Stockport against Wrexham, picking up a hat-trick. Louie Barry and Paddy Madden also joined him on the scoresheet in a 5 - 0 thrashing of Wrexham. Olaofe and Barry were once again scoring for Stockport, this time against Accrington Stanley. Will Collar also scored as Stockport won 3 - 1, with Jack Nolan scoring for Accrington.

Another win for Stockport came against Forest Green Rovers. Olaofe scored once again, this time joined by Antoni Sarcevic as Stockport won 2 - 0 against a ten man Forest Green who had Marcel Lavinier sent off. Once again Olaofe scored for Stockport, with this goal being the only one in the 1 - 0 win over Doncaster.

The most recent outing for Stockport was against Salford City in the Football League Trophy. Madden bagged a hat-trick to give Stockport the 3 - 1 win despite Marcus Dackers opening goal for Salford.

Harrogate and Stockport have met 16 times in their histories. Not much separates the two teams with Stockport having seven wins in comparison to Harrogate having six wins in the fixture, with the other three games ending in a share of the points.

            Stockport Team News

Dave Challinor also has no new injury worries. This means he can continue with his preferred 4 - 3 - 1 -2 formation with Olaofe and Barry up front and with Sarcevic slotting right behind them.
