The EnviroVent Stadium is the venue for an exciting League Two clash on Saturday afternoon as Harrogate Town are set to host Walsall with the game set to kick off at 15:00.
The hosts currently find themselves in 7th position in the league table, having gained 48 points from their 32 league games so far this campaign. In what is a very congested League Two table, there are just three points separating Harrogate in 7th and Walsall in 16th.
Simon Weaver’s side come into this weekend on the back of a mixed run of form which has seen the Sulphurites record 2 draws, 2 victories and one defeat from their last five league outings.
Last Tuesday, Harrogate were dealt a major blow to their confidence as they were battered 9-2 against Mansfield Town. The Sulphurites found themselves five goals down at the break and the barrage of Mansfield goals continued in the second half in what turned out to be a rotten day for the travelling Harrogate supporters.
Harrogate managed to restore some normality when they were last in action against Crewe at the weekend. Neither side could break the deadlock and chances were few and far between in the game which finished goalless.
Walsall are currently occupying the 16th position in the table and have gained 45 points from their 32 league outings this season. The playoffs are still a legitimate possibility for the Saddlers who are just three points below 7th position and have a game in hand over most of the teams above them.
The Saddlers come into this game on the back of a good run of form which has seen them record back to back victories against Morecambe and Mansfield. Notably, Walsall recorded a 2-1 victory over Mansfield less than a week after the Stags recorded a 9-2 victory over Harrogate.
The fixture of Harrogate vs Walsall is a relatively new one, with the sides having first met in 2020. In total, the two sides have met on seven occasions, with Harrogate winning 3, there being 3 draws and Walsall having won just once.
It was Harrogate who recorded a slender victory when these sides met in the reverse fixture earlier on in the season. George Thomson's 85th minute strike condemned a wasteful Walsall to a 1-0 defeat.
These sides are very evenly matched at the bookies ahead of this weekend’s matchup however it is Walsall who are narrowly favoured and are currently priced @ 29/20, whilst a home win for Harrogate is priced @ 17/10 and a draw is @ 23/10.
We are backing Walsall to win to nil because they have the better form heading into this weekend’s clash and have shown to have an excellent defensive record in recent weeks. The Saddlers have conceded just two times in their last three league games.
