Morecambe vs Wimbledon Prediction, Tips & Stats

Wimbledon travel to the Globe Arena on Saturday, where they will take on the Shrimps. Morecambe haven't beat Wimbedlon on the last two occasions, therefore they will be even more motivated to pick up three points.

          Morecambe

Morecambe have had a rather inconsistent start to the season, but they have finally found their feet after being relegated into League Two. They are unbeaten in their last six matches, winning four of them and all of their last three. The Shrimps score an average of 1.46 goals per game, whilst conceding the fifth least in the league. That defensive security gives the forwards the freedom to attack with intent. Derek Adams' team are also unbeaten at home this season.

Last time out, Morecambe picked up a thoroughly deserved three points against Tranmere, despite being slightly fortunate for the only goal of the game. A Tranmere own goal ten minutes after the hour mark gave the hosts the lead, but the Shrimps were rather wasteful in attack.

          Wimbledon

The Dons seem to have spells of great performances, but defeats have started to creep in recently. Wimbledon have drawn seven times this season yet they have only lost three times, with two of those losses coming in the last three Matches. Johnnie Jackson has created an extremely disciplined unit and that is evidenced by their defensive record on the road of 0.38 conceded per match. Wimbledon have kept a clean sheet in 75% of their away matches.

That said, last time out they were uncharacteristically vulnerable at the back, as they lost 4-2 to Accrington Stanley at home. The Dons were two goals behind in the first ten minutes and that was increased to three just after the break. Wimbledon showed great character in the second half, as they pulled two goals back, but the visitors wrapped the game up with ten minutes to go.

          Verdict?

Wimbledon will look to master a counter attacking game plan in order to frustrate the hosts and their fans. Morecambe are in much better form and they will be relishing the challenge of breaking down the stubborn opposition.

The final prediction is Morecambe 1-1 Wimbledon.

          Morecambe Team News

Donald Love was forced off within ten minutes against Tranmere and he will be unavailable. Michael Mellon will lead the line and John Joshua Mckiernan will feature in midfield. Adam Smith will keep his spot in net.

          Wimbledon Team News

Omar Bugiel scored twice last time out and he could earn a place in the starting XI. Ali Al-Hamadi should start up front again and Jake Reeves will captain the side from midfield. Alex Bass will start in between the sticks.
