For our Northampton vs. Grimsby prediction, we're going for a 1-0 win for the home side.
Northampton Town are looking to continue their promotion push as they face Grimsby Town in League Two this weekend.
Northampton Town currently sit 4th in League Two with fourteen wins, ten draws and six losses from thirty games this season.
The Cobblers have had a successful season for the most part having spent the majority of the campaign in the automatic promotion spots, but an underwhelming run of results in recent weeks has seen them lose their spot in the top three as they look to return to winning ways.
They enter this game having won one, drawn three and lost one of their last five matches in League Two, the most recent of which was a 0-0 draw against Wimbledon.
The result represented a third straight draw for The Cobblers and was a second straight highly disappointing result having drawn 1-1 with relegation threatened Rochdale the week prior.
Their home form has been pretty average of late, too, having won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five games on home soil.
Northampton desperately need to return to winning ways and given Carlisle United in 3rd are going through their own rough patch of form they need to capitalise on what is an excellent chance for three points against a Grimsby side with struggles of their own.
Grimsby Town currently sit 19th in League Two with nine wins, six draws and twelve losses from twenty-seven games this season.
The Mariners have had a fairly poor season domestically, despite a mightily impressive run in the FA Cup, as they find themselves sliding ever closer to the relegation zone as the weeks pass by.
They enter this game having won two and lost three of their last five matches in the league, having suffered a damning defeat at the hands of relegation rivals Gillingham on Wednesday night.
The defeat meant Grimsby are now on a two-match losing streak and with the Gillingham winner arriving in the 87th minute Grimsby will feel extremely deflated coming into this game.
Their away record in the league has been fairly abysmal of late, too, having lost four of their last five league matches on the road.
They can at least be encouraged by the fact they drew 1-1 when the two sides met in the league back in August, a result they'd no doubt be pleased with here.
Things are looking troubling for Grimsby right now but they're still seven points clear of the relegation zone. They do need to improve their form, but this game looks a tough one for them despite Northampton's own issues.
