Salford City vs Forest Green Rovers Preview, Tips & Stats

Salford City welcome Forest Green Rovers to Peninsula Stadium this Saturday in a big weekend at the bottom of the League Two table. Both sides sit in the bottom four of League Two and desperately need a three point haul.

Salford City currently sit 21st in League Two after 25 games. The Ammies have six wins, five draws and 14 losses, leaving them on 23 points, equal with 22nd place Colchester and four points from 20th place Grimsby.

In their last five games in all competitions, Salford have one draw and four losses.

The one draw came against Wimbledon. Salford could manage eight shots with three on target and Wimbledon registered a much better 20 shots, but only two were on target as the two sides played out a 0 - 0 draw. Conor McAleny was on the scoresheet for Salford with his goal in the 91st minute, but goals from Joe Taylor and Chay Cooper gave Colchester the 2 - 1 win.

Matty Lund grabbed a goal against Tranmere, but goals from Harvey Read Saunders, Kieron Morris, Connor Jennings, Regan Hendry and Joshua Stuart Hawkes gave Tranmere the 5 - 1 win over ten-man Salford as McAleny was sent off. Harry Clifton, Toby Mullarkey and Danny Rose all scored in the 3 - 0 win for Grimsby, with Salford only managing two shots on target.

The last time out for Salford was against Accrington Stanley. A goal from Shaun Whalley and a brace from Jack Nolan gave Stanley the 3 - 0 win despite Salford having more of the possession.

Forest Green Rovers, on the other hand, sit rock bottom of League Two. In 24 games, Rovers have four wins, five draws and 15 losses which leaves them on 17 points, one point from Sutton United and six points from safety.

In their last five games in all competitions, Rovers have two draws and three losses.

In the Second round of the FA Cup, Forest Green took on Blackpool. Owen Dale, Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel and Marvin Akpereogene Paul Edem Ekpiteta all scored in the 3 - 0 win for Blackpool. Back in League Two, Forest Green hosted Gillingham. Both sides had 11 shots, with Rovers managing four on target and Gillingham managing three shots on target as they played out a 0 - 0 draw.

A Ryan Delaney own goal in the second minute and a goal from Mathew Stevens gave Forest Green the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. However, following the red card to Callum Graham Jones at the start of the second half, a Will Evans brace and goals from Lewis Payne and Delaney gave Newport County the 4 - 2 win. Matt Taylor did score for Forest Green but a brace from Dan Kemp gave Swindon Town the 2 - 1 win.

The most recent outing for Forest Green Rovers was against Wimbledon. Stevens opened the scoring in the fourth minute but Ali Al-Hamadi equalised for Wimbledoon within the first half. However, neither team could find the back of the net in the second half as the game finished in a 1 - 1 draw.

Salford City and Forest Green Rovers have met seven times in their histories, with the first meeting coming as recently as 2019. Salford have the slightly better record in the fixture with three wins in comparison to Rovers’ two wins, with the other two games ending in a draw.
