Swindon vs Barrow Prediction, Tips & Stats

The County Ground is the venue for a mid-table clash in League Two as Swindon are set to host Barrow on Saturday afternoon.

The home side currently find themselves just inside the top half of the table in 12th position, having amassed 51 points from their 40 games so far this campaign. The Robins look destined to spend another year in League Two as they are fifteen points beneath

Swindon come into this match on the back of their worst run of form of the season, which has seen the Robins go eight games without a win, having lost their last four on the bounce. This run has included games against relegation-threatened Rochdale and Hartlepool.

Last time out, Swindon Town’s winless run extended into an eighth game following a particularly dour 1-0 defeat away at Tranmere Rovers. Harvey Saunders scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half as Rovers picked up their first win in seven League Two outings. Town offered very little in the way of attacking threat despite seeing two thirds of possession

Jody Morris has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks and could be sacked after just two months in charge. Since his appointment, Morris has won just two of his thirteen games, losing eight of those.

Barrow currently find themselves in 9th place in the League Two table, five points beneath Salford who are occupying the final spot in the playoffs. With only five games left in their campaign, it will be a surprise to see the Bluebirds in the playoffs.

Pete Wild’s side come into this weekend on the back of a good run of form which has seen the Bluebirds win three of their last four league outings. This run has included vital victories against Gillingham and Wimbledon.

On Easter Monday, Barrow ensured that they remained in the Sky Bet League Two play-off race with a 4-0 victory over relegation-threatened Crawley. Top scorer Josh Gordon, who took his tally for the season to 15 goals, grabbed the first hat-trick of his career before Ged Garner opened his account for the club with a late fourth at Holker Street.

These sides have met on seven prior occasions, of which Barrow have won two, Swindon have won four and there has been one draw. This fixture is often a low scoring affair as there has not been more than three goals in the fixture’s history.

Swindon came out on top of a tight affair when these sides met in the reverse fixture earlier on in the season. Louis Reed's seventh-minute penalty was the only goal in the game. Bluebirds goalkeeper Paul Farman conceded the penalty when he chopped down Jacob Wakeling after Tyrell Warren's poor back pass.

Swindon enter this matchup as home favourites at the bookies and are currently priced @ 13/10, whilst an away win for Barrow is priced @ 2/1 and a draw is @ 9/4. We are backing Barrow to win and under 2.5 goals because of this fixture's low scoring history paired with the Bluebirds superior form heading into this tie.

            Swindon Team News

Swindon have not reported any new injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s matchup. Jacob Wakeling is set to lead the attacking line and he is likely to be joined by Tyrese Shade and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy on the wings.

            Barrow Team News

Pete Wild does not have any new injury concerns to contend with ahead of this clash. He is unlikely to ring the changes to the side which put four past Crawley last time out. Barrow’s top scorer Josh Gordon will be looking to add to his tally here.
