Wrexham vs Notts County Preview, Tips & Stats

Wrexham host Notts County at the Racecourse Ground this Saturday in League Two. Both sides are in the race for the Play-offs, needing a win to either to retain their spot in the Play-offs or grab a spot.

Wrexham currently sit fourth in League Two after 30 games. The Red Dragons have 16 wins, seven draws and seven losses, leaving them on 55 points, four points within the Play-offs and five points from the automatic promotion spots.

In their last five games in all competitions, Wrexham have one win and four losses.

Following the red card to Wrexham’s William Boyle in the 18th minute, Seb Palmer-Houlden grabbed the only goal of the game in the first half for a 1 - 0 win for Newport County. In the Fourth Round of the FA Cup, Wrexham took on Championship side Blackburn Rovers. Andy Cannon opened the scoring for Wrexham but a brace from Sammie Szmodics and goals from Sam Gallagher and Sondre Tronstad gave Blackburn the 4 - 1 win.

Salford City took an early 2 - 0 lead through Theo Vassell and Elliot Watt, but Sam Dalby scored to get Wrexham in the game before halftime. However, that was Wrexham’s only shot on goal and a goal from Matt Smith gave Salford the 3 - 1 win. Despite having 17 shots with five on target, Andy Cook scored the only goal of the game in the 90th minute to give Bradford the 1 - 0 win.

The last time out for Wrexham was against Sutton United. Boyle grabbed a goal late in the first half to give Wrexham the 1 - 0 lead at halftime. Charlie Lakin equalised with 15 minutes to go, but an 85th minute goal from Elliot Lee secured the 2 - 1 win for Wrexham.

Notts County sit just below Wrexham in seventh in League Two. In 31 games, Notts County have 14 wins, five draws and 12 losses which leaves them on 47 points, four points outside of the Play-offs.

In their last five games in all competitions, Notts County have one win, two draws and two losses.

A penalty from Danny Rose and a goal from Abo Eisa gave the early 2 - 0 lead but David McGoldrick’s first goal and a goal from Macaulay Langstaff levelled it at halftime. Eisa’s second goal and a goal from Harry Clifton gave Grimsby the 4 - 2 lead but a quickfire brace from Aaron Nemane once again made the game level. McGoldrick thought he had won the game in the 92nd minute but Harry Wood’s 95th minute goal forced the 5 - 5 draw. Notts County went behind again against Barrow, with Kian Spence giving Barrow the lead. Nemane equalised and despite having 80% of the possession, Notts County couldn’t find the back of the net and settled for the 1 - 1 draw.

KD Davis scored the only goal of the game in the eighth minute to give Mansfield Town the 1 - 0 win over Notts County. Daniel Crowley’s early goal gave Notts County the lead, but goals from Oliver Hawkins, Max Clark and Conor Masterson gave Gillingham the 3 - 1 win over Notts County.

The most recent outing for Notts County was against Newport. A brace from Langstaff and a goal from McGoldrick gave Notts County the 3 - 1 win over Newport, with a late Will Evans penalty only a consolation goal.

Wrexham and Notts County have met 52 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1958. Not much separates the two sides with Notts County having 19 wins in comparison to Wrexham’s 18 wins, the other 15 games ending in a draw.
