Reims vs. Lille Prediction, Tips & Stats

Lille continue their quest to secure a European place in Ligue 1 as they face Reims this weekend.

Reims currently sit 11th in Ligue 1 eleven wins, fourteen draws and eight losses from thirty-three games this season.

Reims have had a very successful season by all accounts and it's one that's been highly coveted I England due to the successes of their English-Belgian manager Will Still, the 30-year-old who famously honed his craft playing Football Manager.

Still led Reims to a nineteen match unbeaten run in the league but things have tailed off significantly of late with Reims now four games without a win.

There most recent outing saw them fall to a 1-0 loss at Clermont Foot, a result that marked their third loss on the bounce and their third straight game without a goal.

Their form at home isn't great either, with Reims having failed to win any of their last three games on home soil.

Reims' season is in danger of fizzling out into into insignificance and they'll be desperate to claim a few wins in their remaining five matches to end the season on a high note. They face a very tough game here so their winless run could continue.

Lille currently sit 5th in Ligue 1 with seventeen wins, eight draws and eight losses from thirty-three games this season.

Lille have had a solid season in France and are aiming for a Europa League group stage spot as we head into the final five games of the campaign.

They enter this game in solid form having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a 3-0 win over Ajaccio.

Their away form, though, has not been great in recent weeks with Lille having won just one of their last six games on the road in all competitions.

These two sides drew 1-1 when they met back in January but given Reims' poor form Lille should fancy themselves to claim a big three points here.

Two of the league's highest scorers, Folarin Balogun (18) and Jonathan David (21), are set to square off here with David having scored twice in his last three matches while Arsenal loanee Balogun having scored just one in his last four encounters.

Lille are two points behind Monaco in 4th and will firmly have their eye on finishing in that spot given it will give them an automatic spot in the Europa League group stage. As far as this game is concerned they should see this is a huge opportunity for a much-needed away win.

For our Reims vs. Lille prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.
