For our Luton vs. Grimsby prediction, we're going for a 2-0 win for the home side.
Championship side Luton Town welcome League Two side Grimsby Town to Kenilworth Road in the FA Cup fourth round this weekend.
Luton reached the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win away at Wigan Athletic in a replay following a 1-1 draw.
The Hatters are having a fine season in the championship as they sit 7th in the table, level on points with Middlesbrough and Norwich City in 6th and 5th.
They enter this game amidst and impressive run of form having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five matches in all competitions, the most recent of which was a cruising 2-0 win away at Wigan in the league.
Luton's home form is, however, slightly questionable having won just one of their last six matches on home soil in all competitions. They have also lost only once in that period, but the record is still not encouraging.
Luton reached the fifth round of this competition last season and it's been thirty-seven years since they've reached this stage in consecutive seasons so a win here would be huge.
The Hatters have won both of their last two head-to-head matches with Grimsby and despite their poor recent record on home soil they should win this one, but nothing is guaranteed in this competition.
Grimsby Town reached the fifth round of the FA Cup by beating Plymouth Argyle 5-1, Cambridge United 2-1 and Burton Albion 1-0.
Reaching the fifth round is a huge feat for a Grimsby side that are having a pretty unremarkable season in League Two as they sit 16th in the table, eleven points shy of the play-off spots.
They enter this game in fairly solid form having won two of their last three matches in all competitions, but their most recent game was a 5-0 hammering away at Swindon Town so their confidence could be severely dented coming into this one.
Their away form is pretty dismal too, with Paul Hurst's side winning one and losing four of their last five matches in all competitions.
Grimsby have won each of their prior FA Cup ties against Luton, and they'll need to rely on an omen here as they face a big step up in quality.
A deep FA Cup run would be huge for a Grimsby side that have been struggling of late, and the fact they beat League One leaders Plymouth by such a convincing scoreline bodes well here as they prepare to face higher league opposition once more. Luton should win, but this is the FA Cup.
