Arsenal vs West Ham Preview, Tips & Stats

Arsenal welcome West Ham to the Emirates this Thursday in a big game for the top of the table, where a win would see Arsenal extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League after 18 games. The Gunners have 12 wins, four draws and two losses, leaving them on 40 points, one point ahead of Liverpool and Aston Villa.

In their last five games in all competitions, Arsenal have two wins, two draws and one loss.

Both Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus both scored in the first half, but Gabriel Osho did get Luton on the scoresheet before halftime. Elijah Adebayo and Ross Barkley then put Luton into the lead in the early stages of the second half. However, Kai Havertz drew The Gunners level just three minutes after Luton took the lead and Declan Rice scored in the 97th minute to grab the 4 - 3 win for Arsenal. However, the trip to Villa Park was not as successful. John McGinn scored the only goal of the game in the seventh minute to give Aston Villa the 1 - 0 win over Arsenal.

In the last week of the Champions League Group stage, Arsenal took on PSV. Eddie Nketiah opened the scoring for Arsenal in the first half, but Yorbe Vertessen equalised just five minutes into the second half. Neither side could find another goal and had to settle for a 1 - 1 draw. The next time out against Brighton saw Havertz and Jesus both score in the 2 - 0 win for Arsenal.

The last time out for Arsenal was a big game against Liverpool. Gabriel Magalhaes opened the scoring for Arsenal in the fourth minute but Mo Salah equalised before halftime as both teams had to settle for a 1 - 1 draw.

West Ham, on the other hand, sit sixth. In 18 games, The Hammers have nine wins, three draws and six losses which leaves them on 30 points, just six points from the Champions League spots.

In their last five games in all competitions, West Ham have three wins and two losses.

West Ham were served a shock when they visited Craven Cottage to take on Fulham. Raul Jimenez, Willian, Tosin Adarabioyo, Harry Wilson and Carlos Vinicius all scored in the 5 - 0 thrashing for West Ham at the hands of Fulham. In the Europa League, West Ham bounced back against Freiburg. Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez both scored in the first half in a 2 - 0 win for West Ham.

Back in the Premier League, West Ham hosted Wolves. A first half brace from Kudus and a goal for Jarrod Bowen gave West Ham the 3 - 0 win. In the Quarter-final of the League Cup, West Ham took on Liverpool. Bowen did score for West Ham, but just as a consolation as a brace from Curtis Jones and goals from Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo gave Liverpool the 5 - 1 win.

The most recent outing for West Ham was against Manchester United. Bowen and Kudus both scored again in the 2 - 0 win for West Ham.

Arsenal and West Ham is a historic fixture, happening on 145 occasions, the first meeting coming all the way back in 1906. The Gunners have the far superior record in the fixture with 72 wins in comparison to West Ham’s 36 wins. In fact, a draw is more common than a West Ham win, with 41 draws so far.
