Brentford vs. Manchester City: Prediction, Tips & Stats

Champions Manchester City play their final game of the 2022/23 Premier League season as they face Brentford away from home.

Brentford are currently 9th in the Premier League with fourteen wins, fourteen draws and nine losses from thirty-seven games this season.

The Bees have had an outstanding campaign in the Premier League this season having already secured a top half finish, something few expected they would go on to achieve this time around.

They're coming into this game in excellent form too, with Thomas Frank's side having won four of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a thumping 3-1 win away at Tottenham.

It was confirmed last week that star striker Ivan Toney will be suspended from participating in all football activity until January 2024, a decision that is indeed a huge blow to Brentford but they'll be extremely pleased at how they've coped in his absence in the last two games having won them both but a combined score of 5-1. If those games were a window into their future then they shouldn't be too worried.

Brentford's form at home has been solid of late too having taken seven points from their last three games on home soil so despite the quality of their opponent this weekend they can be confident of at least making a good account of themselves.

Brentford are guaranteed a 9th place finish at least but could finish as high as 7th, which would mean a place in the Europe Conference League, depending on other results so a win here would be huge for them.

Manchester City currently sit top of the Premier League with twenty-eight wins, five draws and four losses from thirty-seven games this season.

The Sky Blues have had another extraordinary season and it's one that could turn out to be even more extraordinary should they manage to complete the treble in the coming weeks.

They don't technically have anything to play for in this game but no doubt they'll want to hit the ninety point mark given they're currently on eighty-nine, so don't expect them to take this game lightly.

They're coming into this game in good form having gone unbeaten in their last twenty-five matches while winning three of their last four.

Should he be given game time Erling Haaland will no doubt want to add to his tally of thirty-six Premier League goals this season, especially considering he's been guilty of missing a number of chances in the past few games.

All in all, this is a game City should win as Pep Guardiola will want to ensure his side maintain their standard heading into two of the biggest games in the club's history.

For our Brentford vs. Man City prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.

              Brentford Team News

In addition to Ivan Toney's ineligibility, Brentford will also be without Pontus Jansson and Keane Lewis-Potter through injury.

Bryan Mbuemo will be hoping to continue his excellent form since Toney's suspension having scored three goals in his last two games.

              Manchester City Team News

Phil Foden and Nathan Aké are both doubts while the status of Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Jack Grealish and Aymeric Laporte is currently unclear after they all missed the trip to Brighton in the week.

Rico Lewis, Cole Palmer and Kalvin Phillips could all be given starts here.
