Brighton vs Southampton Prediction, Tips & Stats

Brighton & Hove Albion are set to welcome the relegated Southampton to the Amex this Sunday with the Seagulls aiming to get their Europa League quest back on track after a stunning loss to Newcastle United.

Brighton were not in the game throughout their clash in the North East. The club went 1-0 down in the first half after an own goal from Deniz Undav. Undav did score in the second 45, but two late goals from the Magpies gave Newcastle a 4-1 win.

Brighton now sit adrift of Liverpool by seven points with three games left for them to play and it still gives the club a chance to get into the Europa League, albeit, a slim one. This time last week, however, Roberto De Zerbi's men did get one of the results of the season by defeating Arsenal at the Emirates in a stunning 3-0 win.

As for Southampton, they are guaranteed to finish in last place if they fail to win this game with the club now adrift of Leicester City by six points with just six points left to play for. Regardless, they are already relegated and will be in the second tier next season after winning just six games this campaign so far.

          Brighton team news

Brighton have a stunning amount of injuries to deal with ahead of this game and they have up to 10 players out. Solly March is unlikely to play again this season and Adam Lallana is nearing a return to full fitness in this game. Adam Webster is also ruled out here, but Levi Colwill and Joel Veltman are also nearing returns ahead of this game. Jakub Moder is also ruled out in this game and Jeremy Sarmiento and Tariq Lamptey won't play again this season. Robert Sanchez is also out for the season and Jason Steele will stay in goal for the remaining few games.

          Southampton team news

Southampton are set to be without Che Adams in this game but he should be fit to play in the final game of the season with Valentino Livramento also set to come back soon. Armel Bella-Kotchap is not going to play again this season and Romain Perraud won't return until the summer. Mohamed Salisu and Juan Larios are also ruled out for the season. The Saints may use these final few games of the season to field some youngsters in preparation for a campaign in the Championship.
