Liverpool travel to Turf Moor on Tuesday evening, where they will look to defeat Vincent Kompany’s Burnley. The Reds have won the last three meetings against the Clarets without conceding a goal.
Burnley
After such a dominant Championship campaign last season, the Burnley faithful will be disappointed with how their side has adapted to life in the Premier League. The Clarets have played 18 matches in the top flight this season, but they have only collected 11 points, which puts them second from bottom.
Kompany's attack and defence have let him down this campaign, with Burnley only scoring 18 goals, the joint second-lowest amount in the Premier League. Furthermore, they have conceded the second most goals, averaging two per match, while also only keeping two clean sheets.
The latest of those came this weekend, when Burnley travelled to an in-form Fulham side. The hosts enjoyed much more of the ball, yet they couldn't break the Clarets down. It was 0-0 at halftime, but a Fulham win looked on the cards. Despite that, the visitors were clinical on the break in the second half, with goals from Wilson Odobert and Sander Berge claiming a vital 2-0 win.
Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp's side has been almost flawless this season, and they will be challenging for the title at the end of the campaign. After 18 matches, Liverpool are in second place with 39 points, winning 11 matches and only losig once, which was in the game where they had nine men for a large spell.
The Reds have been excellent at both ends of the field this season, and Mohammed Salah has been on top form as always, scoring 12 and assisting seven already. Liverpool have scored the joint third most goals this season, netting 2.06 per match on average, yet they have excelled defensively, conceding the joint fewest goals, 16.
Last time out, Liverpool hosted Arsenal in a top-of-the-table battle. The hosts went behind early on, but Salah fired back shortly after. The tie ended 1-1, but the Reds will feel hard done by and disappointed that they didn't win after a penalty claim in the first half and Trent Alexander-Arnold missing a golden chance by hitting the bar after the break.
Verdict?
Burnley have the worst home record in the top flight, winning just one of their nine games and losing the other eight. Liverpool have struggled to overcome some teams on the road, but they will be confident this weekend. Burnley will try to frustrate the Reds, but they will eventually succumb to the pressure and sheer quality.
The final prediction is Burnley 0-3 Liverpool.
