The two promoted sides from the Championship last season go head to head in the Premier League this weekend as Fulham welcomes Nottingham Forest to Craven Cottage with both sides in excellent form since the World Cup.
Fulham have been in terrible form over the past three weeks, despite the excellent rise up the table over the last few months. Since the World Cup, the club have gone on to beat Crystal Palace, Southampton and Leicester City before a famous 2-1 win over rivals Chelsea. The Cottagers then started a four-game winless run that began with a loss away to Newcastle United and continued with a defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur, a draw against Sunderland in the FA Cup and another draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The run of form keeps Fulham ahead of their west London rivals by two points but with a game extra played. Marco Silva's men have gone on to score 32 times and let in 30 goals now and sit behind Spurs in fifth by seven points. It does mean European football is still on the cards for the club, but it seems very unlikely.
As for Forest, they have climbed up into 12th after a 1-0 win over Leeds United that saw Brennan Johnson score a tremendous volley in the first half. Leeds never really looked at the raves and off the back of drawing 1-1 with Bournemouth, beating Leicester City 2-0, Southampton 1-0 and drawing 1-1 with Forest, it does mean Forest head into this game unbeaten in the Premier League since a 3-0 loss to Manchester United away from home. At the same time, this means just one loss in the league since the World Cup. Steve Cooper's men have still lost 3-0 and 2-0 to United in the EFL Cup, however.
