Fulham vs. Tottenham Hotspur Prediction, Tips & Stats

The upcoming Premier League clash between Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday is a tale of two London clubs charting different courses in English football's top tier. Fulham, currently positioned 12th in the league with 35 points, are navigating a season that's surpassed many expectations. The Cottagers, under the stewardship of Marco Silva, have impressively steered clear of the relegation battle, defying pre-season predictions with their performances, especially considering their modest summer spending on squad reinforcements.

Fulham's approach to the season has been characterised by a blend of discipline and tactical flexibility. Silva's ability to extract the best from his squad, combined with his tactical acumen, has seen Fulham secure crucial points. Their recent form—three wins and two losses in the last five matches—highlights a team finding consistency. However, their last outing was a 2-1 defeat away at Wolverhampton Wanderers, a match that underscored their vulnerabilities. Despite falling behind to goals from Rayan Äit-Nouri and an unfortunate own goal from Tom Cairney, Fulham showed character, with Alex Iwobi scoring a late consolation in the 8th minute of time added on.

At Craven Cottage, Fulham's form has mirrored their overall season—unpredictable yet promising. With two wins, one draw, and two losses in their last five home matches, they've shown they can be formidable on their day but have struggled for consistency. Yet, recent performances suggest an uptick in form, winning two of their last three at home, which they'll hope to continue against Spurs.

Rodrigo Muniz has emerged as a beacon of hope and excitement for Fulham. His recent form, with five goals and an assist in six games, has not only elevated his status among the Fulham faithful but also added a new dimension to their attack. However, Fulham face a daunting task against Tottenham, a team they've struggled against in the last decade, winning only once in their last eleven encounters across all competitions, with Spurs winning nine times.

Tottenham Hotspur, on the other hand, find themselves in a compelling narrative of their own. Currently 5th in the league with 53 points, just two shy of 4th placed Aston Villa, Spurs are experiencing a solid season under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou. In his inaugural season, Postecoglou has instilled an impressive, possession-based style of play that has, at times, been marked by extreme bravery. It's a stark transformation to the styles that preceded it under Spurs' recent managers, so the job the Australian has done cannot be understated. Despite grappling with injuries, Spurs have managed to remain in contention for the top four, a testament to the depth and resilience within the squad.

Their form leading into this game is notable, with three wins, one draw, and one loss in their last five matches. Tottenham's recent 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa, a direct competitor for European places, was particularly impressive. Goals from James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Son Heung-min and Timo Werner underscored a potent attacking force capable of dismantling the league's better defences. This victory, coupled with a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace in their previous match, places Spurs on a promising two-game winning streak.

The influence of Son Heung-min has been an ever presence for Spurs over the last few seasons and since returning from the Asian Cup with South Korea, Son has been in good form, contributing two goals and three assists in four games. His leadership and productivity have been pivotal for Spurs, especially in crucial moments. Yet, despite their strengths, Tottenham's away form has been inconsistent, with two wins, two draws, and one loss in their last five on the road, suggesting vulnerabilities that Fulham could potentially exploit.

The contrast in styles and trajectories of both clubs adds an intriguing layer to this fixture. Fulham, exceeding expectations with a mix of grit and flair, face a Tottenham side blending ambition with entertaining football. While Fulham aim to consolidate their mid-table position, Tottenham are eyeing a spot in the Champions League places, making this encounter an appetising London derby.

            Fulham Team News

Fulham are doing pretty well on the injury front with striker Raúl Jiménez the team's only expected absentee here.

In terms of changes, João Palhinha started the defeat against Wolves on the bench and will almost certainly come back into the starting lineup here. Wingers Willian and Adama Traoré are also both contenders for a place in the XI, with Harry Wilson at risk of losing his starting place.

            Tottenham Team News

Spurs look to have once again lost defender Micky van de Ven to injury after he was forced off in the win over Villa, as he joins Richarlison, Fraser Forster, Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon on the treatment table.

Radu Drăgușin is expected to deputise in Van de Ven's absence, which should be the only change from last weekend's win at Villa Park.

            FootyAccumulators Prediction

Tottenham have the win in their sails after two straight wins and having delivered such an impressive performance at Villa Park the expectation is that they'll build on that here. Fulham are no pushovers, but there's little reason to believe Spurs can't make it three wins on the bounce on Saturday evening in what will likely be a very competitive affair. We predict: Fulham 1-2 Tottenham.
