Leeds United will welcome Newcastle United to Elland Road in the Premier League's early kickoff in gameweek 36 as Sam Allardyce plays out his first game at the home of the Whites following on from a narrow loss to Manchester City.
Allardyce was not expected to beat City at the Etihad, although they did put up a good effort in their fight to get at least a point in a game they were expected to lose by a big scoreline.
Two goals in the first half from City did bring them to a 2-0 lead after 27 minutes and it looked as if Allardyce was going to get mauled on his debut game. However, a goal from Rodrigo Moreno with five minutes left on the clock brought them back into the game.
Leeds now sit 19th in the table and have a gap of two points to make up on Everton in 17th. They also sit six clear of Southampton in 20th and the Whites also have to deal with an inferior goals difference on all those still in the relegation fight, besides Nottingham Forest. Leeds have let in 69 goals and scored 44 of their own - no side has conceded more goals in the Premier League.
Newcastle's 2-0 loss at home to Arsenal was their first at St. James' Park this season in the league and they now sit only two above Manchester United in third and three clear of Liverpool in fifth. In fact, given the form of Liverpool, the Magpies will need to collect at least two more wins it seems to secure a spot in the Champions League.
