Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest Prediction, Tips & Stats

Liverpool are back at Anfield after a sensational victory at Elland Road as Nottingham Forest comes up next with the away side staring back in the face of an immediate drop into the Championship after another loss.

Forest are in the relegation zone but level on points with Everton with 27 each. Forest have now lost 16 times after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, and this is coupled with six losses and nine draws.

What keeps the club in the bottom three is the fact they've scored the joint-fewest goals in the Premier League this season with 24 alongside Everton and Southampton. At the same time, only Bournemouth and Leeds United have conceded fewer and Forest sit in the bottom three as a result of their poor goals difference.

Things have become very bleak for Forest these days with them now losing three in a row after also losing to Leeds United and Aston Villa. The club also drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers and lost 2-1 to Newcastle United and 3-1 to Tottenham Hotspur in the last month as well. In fact, you have to go all the way back to early February to see Forest's last win, as they narrowly defeated Leeds thanks to a first half stunner from Brennan Johnson.

Liverpool hammered Leeds 6-1 at Elland Road on Monday night and they have now scored more than six goals four times this season after a 7-1 win over Rangers, a 7-0 victory over Manchester United and a record-breaking three points in a 9-0 win over Bournemouth earlier in the season. Against Leeds, Cody Gakpo opened the scoring before a Mohamed Salah brace, a Diogo Jota double and a late Darwin Nunez finish.

Nevertheless, the Reds remain in eighth and are behind Newcastle United by nine points and Champions League football is beginning to look like a near-impossible feat for next campaign.

            Nottingham Forest team news

While Liverpool only have a few injuries, Forest are still plagued in the physio room. Giulian Biancone is out for the season and Chris Wood is now out for the remainder of the campaign too. Willy Boly is still not fit yet and Serge Aurier is nearing a return alongside Ryan Yates. Gustavo Furtado Scarpa is facing a late fitness test before this one, and Omar Richards is still out. Dean Henderson is nearing a return, but the impressive form at times from Kaylor Neves will likely keep him in goal regardless of his fitness. Cheikhou Kouyate is not ready to return yet, but Jesse Lingard is back in the squad now and got minutes against United last weekend.

            Liverpool team news

Calvin Ramsay is out for the season alongside Stegan Bajcetic. Naby Keita is also set to miss this game again, and Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo may all start again after doing so against Leeds United. Luis Diaz is also back in the squad and could feature at some stage and for the first time since late October.
