Man City vs. Chelsea Prediction, Tips & Stats

Manchester City are hoping to wrap up the Premier League title in front of their own fans as they face Chelsea in their last home game of the 2022/23 season on Sunday.

Manchester City are currently top of the Premier League with twenty-seven wins, four draws and four losses from thirty-five games this season.

Pep Guardiola's men have the opportunity to cap off one of the greatest weeks in the club's history by sealing a third straight Premier League title jut days after securing a place in the Champions League final after demolishing Real Madrid 4-0 in the second leg of their semi-final.

The win over Real Madrid was arguably City's greatest performance in the entire Guardiola era when factoring in both the occasion and the quality of opposition so to say the Spaniard's side are peaking at the right time of the season would be an understatement.

As a result of that thumping win City are now twenty-three games unbeaten in all competitions and have won four of their last five, so they're coming into this game in the best possible shape.

The Etihad is nothing short of a fortress and City are coming into this game having won their last sixteen consecutive matches on their own turf.

It'a tough to see City losing at all right now, let alone on their own patch, and considering what is on the line it's going to take one hell of a performance from Frank Lampard's men to stop Guardiola's side from lifting the Premier league trophy in front of their own crowd on Sunday.

Chelsea are currently 11th in the Premier League with eleven wins, ten draws and fourteen losses from thirty-five games this season.

The Blues have had a dismal season and their fans will no doubt be thankful that it's finally coming to a close as they look to try to end the campaign on a positive note.

Having been utterly woeful for months on end they do at least look as though they're beginning to make some progress and gel as a unit as they enter this game having taken four points from their last two matches, the most recent of which was a 2-2 draw at home to Nottingham Forest.

Their record away from home has been mixed having won two and lost three of their last five games on the road, and while not brilliant it's still better than what they've managed at home so they may feel more comfortable playing City away from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have played City three times this season and have lost all three encounters, with the most recent game ending in a 4-0 win for The Sky Blues at the Etihad.

Despite the talent they can display on the field it's tough to see Chelsea taking anything from this game with their opponents simply operating on another level to any other side in the country right now.

Lampard's men may have their moments but City should run out relatively comfortable winners here.

For our Manchester City vs. Chelsea prediction, we're going for a 3-1 win for the home side.

              Man City Team News

Nathan Ake is the only doubt for Pep Guardiola's side having missed the last few games with a muscle injury.

The Spaniard may make a few changes to his starting XI having played in midweek with Phil Phoden, Julian Alvarez and Aymeric Laporte all pushing to start.

              Chelsea Team News

Chelsea's injury list is a lengthy one with Ben Chilwell, Armando Broja, Reece James, Mason Mount, and N'Golo Kante all set to be absent for this one.

Mateo Kovacic and Kalidou Koulibaly are both doubtful and a decision on their inclusion will be made closer to kick-off.

Lewis Hall should continue at left-back while Raheem Sterling will likely keep his place in the XI following a brace against Nottingham Forest.
