Manchester United are clinging onto fourth in the Premier League right now when they play hosts to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford with Erik ten Hag's men seeing Liverpool close the gap to just two points with a handful of games left.
United do have a game in hand which does now mean they can technically lose here and see the Reds win their game and still have top four in their own hands. On the other hand, with ten Hag's side winning just two of their past five Premier League games, there is a feel that a win is a must here for their own sake.
The club have gone on to draw 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur after leading 2-0, while they also lost to Brighton & Hove Albion in the dying embers of the game before a defeat to West Ham United. In fact, their only win in the past four games has been in a narrow 1-0 victory over Aston Villa which, at the time, seemed to have all but secured top four status for United.
On the other hand to the fears of dropping into fifth, United are still only behind Newcastle United in third by two points after their loss to Arsenal. Liverpool will also play against Leicester City on Monday night with the Foxes fighting relegation.
Wolves have nothing to play for in the final few games of the season and they are now mathematically secure from relegation after a 1-0 win over Aston Villa. This did, however, come immediately after losing to Brighton & Hove Albion 6-0 away from home.
They are now 10 clear of Leicester City in 18th and sit with 11 wins on the board. However, with a terrible record of 30 goals scored, Wolves are the lowest-scoring side in the division and have even scored less than last-placed Southampton.
Although form is not looking good for United, the idea they must win this one and the fact they are the third-best home team in the league this season should be enough to get them over the line.
