Newcastle United are aiming to get another win after improving their form slightly in the past few weeks with Bournemouth up next for the Magpies where the Cherries could get to within just six points of their opponents.
A move to within six points would be nothing short of incredible for Bournemouth, should they get the win here at St. James' Park. It is a big possibility, given how Luton Town led twice in the North East and secured a 4-4 draw the other week, while Manchester City defeated them at home two games back too.
Newcastle have still gone on and moved into seventh and ahead of West Ham United after a win over Nottingham Forest in the last outing that saw Bruno Guimaraes run the show with a goal in either half, alongside a finish from Fabian Schar.
Newcastle have also managed to beat Sunderland away from home in the first Tyne and Wear derby for seven years, while the club also managed to edge past Fulham in the FA Cup fourth round before an excellent win away to Aston Villa. Schar scored twice again that day with a brace in the first half alongside an own goal.
The recent results put Newcastle to within five points of Manchester United in sixth, while they have also managed to put a gap of four points on Wolverhampton Wanderers outside of the top 10 in 11th. On the other hand, a defeat for Newcastle would mean the club would be on the same amount of wins as losses should they suffer another defeat.
As for Bournemouth, they have lost the same amount of games as the Magpies with 10 so far, while they have only put together seven wins and scored just 31 goals. A 44-goal conceded ratio also leaves them down in 13 but with a healthy gap of eight points on the relegation zone.
Newcastle's home form - despite a stunning home drawn with Luton and a loss to City recently - is positive. The club have managed to beat Paris Saint-Germain here already this season, and record wins like a 5-1 battering over Aston Villa on the opening day of the season.
