A massive game in the Premier League takes place this Thursday with Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion looking to stamp their marker down on the European spots this weekend with third taking on fifth.
Brighton have marked up to fifth in recent weeks as Roberto De Zerbi continues to make his argument grow even stronger for the Manager of the Season in the Premier League. His men became just the second team to beat Arsenal at the Emirates in the Premier League last time out in a stunning 3-0 win.
Julio Enciso scored from close range that day before Deniz Undav gave the club a 2-0 lead. Pervis Estupinan scored in the 96th minute of a fantastic 3-0 away win that also saw Brighton concede just two shots on target and have 60% of the ball.
This did, however, come after the stunning 5-1 home loss to Everton in what can only be described as one of the most bizarre results of the season, given how Brighton beat Manchester United before it and Arsenal after that loss. De Zerbi's side now sit behind Newcastle in third by eight points and adrift of Liverpool in fifth by only seven.
They have two games in hand to play over the Reds, so a win here could be their most important of the season in terms of getting into the Europa League spots. They do, however, still need a few results to go their way. Either way, it is set to be Brighton's best finish in the Premier League since securing promotion five years ago.
As for Newcastle, this is their chance to go three clear of Manchester United again, as they only sit above the third-placed Red Devils on goals difference after picking up just one point in the last two. This saw the Magpies lose at home to Arsenal in a convincing win for the Gunners, as they then went on to draw 2-2 with Leeds United in Sam Allardyce's first game in charge at home.
