Southampton can be relegated from the Premier League this weekend when they meet with Fulham at St. Mary's with the Cottagers aiming to stamp their marker down on the top half of the table with a win in this one.
Southampton sit on 24 points from 35 games ahead of the game and with a gap of eight points on Everton in 17th, the Saints can now be relegated if they fail to win this game with just nine left to play for.
Ultimately, Southampton need to win all their remaining games and hope Everton loses all of their matches, or the club will be back in the Championship next campaign. Simply put, mathematically speaking, a failure to win for Southampton will relegate the club.
The Saints all but confirmed their own relegation a few weeks back when they played at home to Bournemouth and had a chance to move closer to safety. They ended up losing at home to the Cherries in a must-win battle, and they've since had very little hope of surviving. Now, following on from a 4-3 loss to Nottingham Forest, barely a Saints fan on earth thinks they'll get the job done.
As for Fulham, they are simply aiming to stay in the top 10 this season as they sit six clear of their west London rivals in what is the club's first chance to finish above Chelsea in Premier League history.
The Blues do have a game in hand, however, so there is still quite a bit to play for with Fulham. As there are just nine games left to play, the highest the Cottagers can now finish is sixth, although this will mean they must win all their games and hope that those above them lose.
Fulham did smash Leicester City on Monday night after Willian scored twice in arguably his best performance for the club, as Tom Cairney also netted a brace alongside a goal from Carlos Vinicius in the 5-3 home win.
