Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa Prediction

Tottenham are looking to put a poor start to the season behind them as they take on Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend.

Spurs enter this game in 17th place in the league with two points from four games. Draws against Nottingham Forest (0-0) and Everton (0-0) came amidst defeats to Brentford (3-0) and Newcastle (0-2).

The North London club have been wholly disappointing despite spending an arm and a leg over the summer, with many fans growing exasperated at their team's inability to perform to a respectable level.

They have a good chance to pick up a big win against a Villa side that have also been slow to find their feet, but the pressure is on as they perform in front of a crowd with very little patience.

Villa, meanwhile, have a had a tough start to the season themselves but their troubles are more easily explained. Heavy squad turnover has meant team synergy has been below par, but the feeling is that it will come.

Unai Emery's side beat Coventry 3-1 in the EFL Cup in midweek in a strong performance that will give the team notable confidence, with numerous players delivering good showings.

Villa will know they have a strong record against Spurs heading into this one, winning four of the last five head-to-head meetings. They did, though, lose the most recent one, but given Villa played a second string XI that probably doesn't hold much significance.

BTTS has occurred in four of the last five clashes between the sides, and we expect that theme to continue here in what should be a competitive affair.

All in all, these are two largely flailing teams that have had a lot of squad turnover in the summer. Both are still finding their feet this season so a share of the spoils feels the most likely outcome.
