West Ham vs Manchester City Prediction, Tips & Stats

West Ham welcome Manchester City to the London Stadium this Saturday as The Hammers aim to reclaim the stop at the top of the table. Both sides are undefeated this season and will be looking to retain that title.

West Ham currently sit fourth in the Premier League. In four games, The Hammers have three wins and one draw, leaving them on ten points. West Ham are just two points adrift of Man City top of the league and are on equal points with Tottenham and Liverpool also above them.

The Hammers opened their season on the coast against Bournemouth. Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring in the second half for West Ham, but a late goal from Dominic Solanke meant that it was only one point for The Hammers as the game ended 1 - 1. Next was a visit from Chelsea. Though Carney Chukwuemeka equalised after Nayef Aguerd’s early goal, Michail Antonio and Lucas Paqueta both scored in order to give West Ham the 3 - 1 win. All this in spite of Aguerd’s red card early on and a penalty for Chelsea, that was missed by Enzo Fernandes. James Ward-Prowse, Bowen and Antonio were all on the scoresheet against Brighton as West Ham won 3 - 1 again.

West Ham’s most recent outing in the Premier League was against Luton Town. Bowen and Kurt Zouma both scored for The Hammers giving them the 2 - 0 lead that meant that Mads Juel Andersen’s 92nd minute goal only a consolation as West Ham took home the 2 - 1 win.

Man City have started as they finished last season, top of the table. City have four wins in four games, giving Pep Guardiola’s side 12 points. Along with being top of the table, City also have the best goal difference in the league, scoring 11 goals and conceding only two.

Guardiola’s side began their campaign away to Burnley. Erling Haaland bagged a brace in the first game back and with a goal from Rodri, City grabbed a dominant 3 - 0 win with Anass Zaroury being sent off in extra time for Burnley. Julian Alvarez scored the only goal in the 1 - 0 win over Newcastle and Haaland and Rodri scored in the nervy 2 - 1 win over Sheffield United. Also in this run of games City won their first ever Super Cup after winning the penalty shootout 5 - 4 after Nemanja Gudelj missed his penalty for Sevilla.

Man City’s last time out in the league was against Fulham. Alvares and Nathan Ake scored along with a second half hattrick from Haaland to give City the 5 - 1 win over Fulham despite Tim Ream’s quick initial equaliser.

West Ham and Manchester City have a very rich history, having met 119 times. Since the first meeting back in 1924, City have been on the winning side on 62 occasions and The Hammers have picked up a win 38 times. The other 19 meetings ended in a draw, with only two draws in the last ten meetings.
