Wolves travel to London this weekend, where they will face David Moyes’ West Ham United. This fixture has been extremely close as of late, with three of their last four meetings ending in a 1-0 score line, and each game is often dominated by the home team.
West Ham
The Hammers have had a rather up-and-down season so far, with the weakened squad being carefully managed and rotated by the Scottish boss. West Ham are currently ninth in the Premier League after 16 matches with 24 points.
David Moyes teams are known to be difficult to breach and stubborn, however, the Hammers have suffered 1.88 goals per game on average this season, the fourth highest record in the league. Luckily, they’re dangerous in attack and score 1.63 per game.
However, that wasn’t on show last weekend, as they were destroyed 5-0 by Marco Silva’s Fulham. The Cottagers secured all three points early on, as they went into the break with a three-goal advantage.
Wolves
Considering it’s his first season in charge, Gary O’Neil has done a very respectable job so far as Wolves boss. His side is currently 13th in the Premier League, having won five of their 16 matches, but each match has been decided by the finest of margins.
This mainly comes down to the fact that Wolves don’t score too many goals, as shown by the average per game of 1.31. They also concede 1.63 goals per game, yet they’ve only failed to score in one game all season, which was the opener against Manchester United.
Last time out, Wolves were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Nottingham Forest in a game the hosts were expected to win, especially when they got the equaliser just after the half-hour mark.
Verdict?
West Ham will be desperate to pick out that 5-0 defeat behind them and pick up three points on Sunday, but they have only won three of their seven home matches. Wolves, on the other hand, have lost five of their eight away games this campaign.
Given the fact that both teams have struggled defensively this season, both teams to score is extremely likely in this game.
The final prediction is West Ham 1-1 Wolves.
