Shrewsbury Town will play hosts to Ipswich Town in League One on the penultimate game of the third tier season as both clubs look to just get to preseason with a full-strength squad and some decent results.
Ipswich have had a very topsy-turvy season. The Tractor Boys were flirting with automatic promotion at the start of the season, which quickly turned into a play-off hope soon after, to where they are now guaranteed another League One finish and outside of the play-offs. Ipswich can still finish close to Portsmouth in the final play-off spit - as close as a point - but this will mean they must beat Shrewsbury on Tuesday and Fleetwood Town on the weekend, both of which are doable.
The Blues have really struggled for form for a while. The club have shipped almost just as many goals as they have scored themselves, and in truth, just above a mid-table finish is round about where they belong this campaign.
Shrewsbury, on the other hand, have been playing for pride for a while, as they have not been able to reach the play-offs for much of the campaign, whilst their nine points on the drop zone have forced them away from League Two also.
The club have made improvements, however. Their 54 goals let in from 44 games is decent going for a club of their stature, and for one that is likely to finish closer to the drop zone than mid-table.
Shrewsbury will be looking for a strong finish to this League One season, but in doing so, they can only climb one place in the table into 16th, as the seven point gap on 15th-placed Fleetwood Town is mathematically impossible to draw in.
We're expecting a close game here. Neither side have anything to play for other than pride and a decent performance to begin preseason with. On the other hand, with another game coming up at the weekend, a few faces could be rested, and this game then becomes tough to call.
With this said, we're tipping a score draw.
