The German outfit kicked off with a whimpering 2-0 loss in Paris before being held to a 0-0 draw by AC Milan followed by a 1-0 win away in Newcastle.
The win in Newcastle last time out salvaged what had been a poor start to their Champions League campaign but after that vital three points they'll now feel they're in a good place to qualify from this group given the inconsistencies of the other three contenders.
They're entering this game in fairly decent form overall having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five games, but after losing 0-4 at home to Bayern Munich at the weekend they are now coming off the back of their biggest loss of the season.
The defeat against Bayern was a comprehensive one and many would argue they'd seen this coming given performances under Edin Terzić have been pretty uninspiring despite results been solid so the worry now is that their season begins to unravel.
They did play well in Newcastle, however, so if they can replicate what was a professional and experiences performance they'll have a very good chance of getting back to winning ways, something that will ease the angst caused by the defeat at the weekend.
Newcastle United currently sit 6th in the Premier League with six wins, two draws and three losses from eleven games so far this season.
Newcastle opened their account with a 0-0 draw in Milan followed by a memorable 4-1 win over PSG before a 0-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund last time out.
After an excellent first couple of results the Magpies will be kicking themselves at having fallen to defeat against Borussia Dortmund on their own turf as the result likely means they now have to take a point at least from this game.
Eddie Howe's side are having another strong campaign so far and one that has grown in strengths after a fairly stop start first few weeks as they come into this one having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five games having won two and drawn one of their last three.
Their most recent outing saw them claim a huge 1-0 win over Arsenal courtesy of an Anthony Gordon goal in the first half, a result that will mean they're coming into this game on cloud nine.
Having beaten Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City this season Newcastle have shown an impressive adeptness at beating big teams so they can take a lot of confidence from that ahead of this fixture as they'll need a big performance in order to come away with the result they want.
