Inter Milan vs RB Salzburg Preview, Tips & Stats

Inter Milan host RB Salzburg at the San Siro this Tuesday in Matchday three of the Champions League. Both teams already have a win to their name, but need another if they want to challenge for the lead in the group.

Inter Milan currently sit second in Group D after two games. The Nerazzurri have one win and one draw, leaving them on four points. This puts them level with top of the group Real Sociedad, who are only top via a better goal difference.

In their last five games in all competitions, Inter have three wins, a draw and a loss. The one loss came against Sassuolo despite Inter taking the lead through Denzel Dumfries who scored just before halftime. However, Nedim Bajrami and Domenico Berardi both scored in the second half to give Sassuolo the 2 - 1 win. Inter bounced back against Salernitana through a big performance from Lautaro Martinez. In the second half, Martinez scored all four goals in the 4 - 0 win for Inter.

Last time out in the Champions League, Inter faced Benfica. Marcus Thuram scored the only goal of the game in the second half to give Inter the 1 - 0 win. Francesco Acerbi opened the scoring in the 11th minute for Inter against Bologna and Inter’s lead was doubled just minutes later by Martinez. Riccardo Orsolini’s penalty got Bologna back in the game before halftime and Joshua Zirkzee scored in the second half to grab a 2 - 2 draw for Bologna, despite Inter having the lion’s share of the possession.

The most recent outing for Inter was against Torino. Thuram, Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu all scored in the dominant 3 - 0 win for Inter.

RB Salzburg sit just below their opponents this weekend in third. In their two games, Salzburg have one win and one loss, leaving them on three points, one point behind both teams ahead of them.

In their last five games in all competitions, Salzburg have two wins, a draw and two losses. In the Second round of the Austrian Cup, Salzburg faced Austria Salzburg. Amar Dedic and Strahinja Pavlovic both scored along with a brace from Amankwah Forson to give RB Salzburg the 4 - 0 win. Roko Simic, Oumar Solet, Karim Konate and Oscar Gloukh all scored in the 4 - 0 win for Salzburg against Austria Lustenau, who Salzburg managed to restrict to zero shots on target.

The last outing in the Champions League for Salzburg was against Real Sociedad. Mikel Oyarzabal and Brais Mendez scored in the first half to give Sociedad the 2 - 0 lead they’d end the game with. Simic scored once again for Salzburg and was joined on the scoresheet by Forson to give Salzburg the 2 - 0 lead. However, after the sending off of Pavlovic, Nicolas Wimmer and Florian Jaritz scored for Austria Klagenfurt as the game ended 2 - 2.

The last time out for Salzburg was against LASK. Robert Zulj scored the only goal of the game to give LASK the 1 - 0 win.

Inter Milan and RB Salzburg have met just twice in their histories, and Milan completely dominate this fixture taking home a win on both occasions.
