Albania vs. Moldova Prediction, Tips & Stats

Albania are looking to chalk three points on the board in EURO 2024 qualifying as they face Moldova this weekend.

Albania currently sit bottom of qualifying Group E with one defeat from their only match of the campaign so far.

They began their campaign with a difficult trip away to Poland, a game that ended in defeat for the Albanians after losing by one goal to nil.

They shouldn't be too disheartened given it was the trickiest tie of the whole campaign on paper, but they'll want to register some points on the board sooner rather than later to avoid slumping into a rut.

Their overall form is not very encouraging, however, with Albania having won just one of their last five matches having also lost three of their last four.

Their home form is no better either, really, having also won just one of their last five games on home soil.

Albania have a decent chance of progressing from this group and given they face an opponent completely short on quality here they should cruise to a routine victory here.

Moldova currently sit 3rd in qualifying Group E with two draws from their opening two games of their campaign.

Moldova slumped to a disappointing 1-1 draw with Faroe Islands before making amends with a commendable 0-0 draw with Czech Republic.

Their overall form is still quite concerning having won just one of their last five games while also going winless in their last four.

However, their form away from home is a source of encouragement heading into this game having won two and drawn one of their last three games on the road.

There is, though, little cause for encouragement when reading the head-to-head record between these two, with Albania having won four and drawn one of the five historical meetings between both sides.

It does, then, feel very unlikely that we'll see anything but a home win in this one as the Albanians look to register their first win of the campaign.

For our Albania vs. Moldova prediction, we're going for a 2-0 win for Albania.

Right-back Elseid Hysaj continues to be the standout name for an Albania squad that is short on quality.

Armando Broja continues his recovery from an ACL injury and is unavailable while AS Roma defender Marash Kumbulla also misses out through injury.

            Moldova Team News

Currently on ten goals, 24-year-old Ion Nicolaescu is chasing Serghei Cleșcenco's all-time record of eleven goals and will almost certainly take the record outright as he hopes to at least draw level here.

Captain Vadim Rață will earn his 37th cap here while 21-year-old midfielder Nichita Moțpan will hope to add to his nine caps.
