Azerbaijan vs. Estonia Prediction, Tips & Stats

Two sides struggling in EURO 2024 qualifying meet this weekend as Azerbaijan face Estonia.

Azerbaijan are currently bottom of qualifying Group F with two defeats from their first two games of the campaign.

They began their campaign with a heavy 4-1 defeat away at Austria before suffering an even more damning defeat at the hands of Sweden by five goals to nil.

Azerbaiajan will consider themselves unlucky to have been drawn into an extremely tough group containing Austria, Belgium and Sweden so their chances of progression, which were already going to be very low, are not next to nothing.

Their form overall is still quite good given they've won three of their last five games, but their two opening defeats in qualifying have effectively ended any hope they had of doing anything significant here.

Their form away from home has been mixed of late having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five games on the road, but having won their last two on the bounce they'll be hoping that foreshadows what is to come.

All in all Azerbaijan are effectively playing for pride at this stage and this is by far and away the kindest fixture of the group for them on paper so it's one they need to win.

Estonia currently sit 4th in qualifying Group F with one loss from just one game played so far in the group.

They opened their campaign with a 2-1 defeat away at Austria in what was a defiant performance given Austria needed an 88th minute winner to secure all three points.

Their overall form coming into this game is not bad having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five games, and despite losing their last two on the bounce they'll be hopeful of taking three points here.

Their form away from home is more of a worry though, with Estonia having won just one of their last five games on the road.

These two sides have not met since November 2013, where Estonia ran out 2-1 winners.

Estonia are competing with Azerbaijan to try not to finish bottom of this group and if they avoid defeat here they will be well placed to do just that.

For our Azerbaijan vs. Estonia prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.

          Azerbaijan Team News

Ozan Kökçü plies his trade for Eindhoven in Dutch second tier while Renat Dadashov represents Grasshoppers in Switzerland.

At the age of 27, Ramil Sheydayev is just five goals shy of Gurban Gurbanov's record as all-time leading scorer for the national team (14) so he'll be hoping to edge closer to that here.

          Estonia Team News

Uncapped 19-year-old Martin Vetkal is on the books as AS Roma in Serie A so he'll be wanting to earn his first cap for his country in this one.

Captain Konstantin Vassiljev has remarkably been capped 150 times and will want to add to that tally here.
