Montenegro vs. Hungary Prediction, Tips & Stats

We have an intriguing clash in EURO 2024 qualifying as Montenegro take on Hungary this weekend.

Montenegro currently sit 3rd in qualifying Group G with one win and one loss from their first two matches.

They began their campaign with a solid 1-0 win away in Bulgaria before falling to a 0-2 defeat at home to Serbia.

The defeat to Serbia was a tough one that now makes qualification much more tricky having squandered home advantage against a group rival.

All is not lost, though, as there will be several more twists and turns before the conclusion of the group stage but they must make amends here in their second straight home game.

Their form overall is hugely concerning, however, as Montenegro enter this game having won just one of their last five matches, drawing one and losing three of the other four.

Their form at home is equally concerning too, with the Eastern Europeans having failed to win any of their last four games on home soil.

Montenegro need to win this is they are realistically going to get out of the group and automatically qualify for the group stages as they can ill afford to again concede home advantage to a group rival.

It'll be a tight game, but unfortunately their record form does little to inspire confidence.

Hungary currently sit 2nd in qualifying Group G with one win from just one game so far.

Hungary kicked off their qualifying campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over Bulgaria, a comfortable result that set the tone for what they hope will be a successful bid for a place in Germany next year.

The win against Bulgaria marked there third consecutive win as they enter this match in good form having gone unbeaten in their last four.

Hungary have proved an impressive unit in the past couple of years having delivered an impressive group stage campaign at EURO 2020 before taking six points off England and four off Germany in their most recent Nations League campaign.

Their away form has been impressive of late too, with Hungary having won three of their last five games on the road.

These two sides have met just twice in their history with he first game ending in a 3-3 draw back in 2008 before Montenegro claimed a 2-1 win in 2019.

As far as this one is concerned, Hungary are coming into this game in far better shape and should avoid defeat at the very least.

For our Montenegro vs. Hungary prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.
