Turkey vs Armenia Prediction, Tips & Stats

Turkey and Armenia are fighting for top spot in Group D this Friday night as they meet at the same time as Croatia and Latvia in this group with Turkey currently leading the way at the top.

Turkey's only defeat from their four games has come against Croatia after Mateo Kovacic scored a first half brace to give his side the lead and all three points. The nation has otherwise defeated Latvia 3-2 with a goal each from Cengiz Under, Abdulkerim Bardakci and Irfan Kahveci in a game that saw seven shots on target from 70% of the ball.

Turkey also defeated Wales with a first goal for his country for new Real Madrid starlet, Arda Guler, while Mehmet Umut Nayir also scored. Those two have, however, not made this squad. The country's other victory came against Armenia where Muhammed Kerem Akturkoglu scored after a goal from Orkun Kokcu, as Turkey went 1-0 down due to an own goal from Ozan Kabak.

As for Armenia, they have beaten Wales in Cardiff 4-2 and defeated Latvia 2-1 just after that with their only loss coming against Turkey, as they boast of a game in hand.

          Turkey team news

Inter Milan's Hakan Çalhanoğlu is the top scorer and most capped player in the current Turkey squad and he will be in search of goal number 18 from 79 caps in this one. Cengiz Ünder is the second highest scorer and he will get his 50th cap in this match. Orkun Kökçü of Benfica and Salih Ozcan of Borussia Dortmund are two notable players here too from midfield, while Merih Demiral, Çağlar Söyüncü and Ozan Kabak are expected in defence. Kaan Ayhan hasn;t made this squad, while Umut Nayir, Cenk Tosun and Enes Unal are all out injured, while Deniz Undav has bizzarely missed out on a callup.

          Armenia team news

Varazdat Haroyan will captain his country from the back and he and Kamo Hovhannisyan go for their 76th cap each. There are very few goals in the squad these days, as Tigran Barseghyan sits with the most in the side with nine from 56 games. Hovhannes Hambardzumyan is not with the squad for this one, and Khoren Bayramyan is also out here through injury. Henrikh Mkhitaryan retired from international duty two years ago and he continues to be a huge miss.
