PSG are once again back in the UEFA Super Cup following their success in the Champions League final last season, where they face an Aston Villa side whose manager has never managed to win this trophy during his illustrious career, despite multiple opportunities.
Paris Saint-Germain claimed their one and only Super Cup trophy last year, defeating another English side in the form of Tottenham Hotspur on penalties. Aston Villa have only made it to one previous Super Cup, back in 1982, but they did beat Barcelona 3-1 on aggregate (the final was played over two legs back then).
These two clubs have only met twice before, and it was PSG who came away the victors on aggregate, winning 5-4 in the Champions League quarter-final in 2025. Both teams scored in each of those encounters, and we're predicting more of the same on Wednesday night in Salzburg.
PSG won six of their final nine matches across all competitions last season, and both teams scored in five of their last seven outings. Both teams also found the back of the net in four of Aston Villa's last six fixtures of the 2025/26 campaign, so you can see why we've backed both teams to score on Wednesday night.
Georgian international Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was one of the few PSG players who wasn't in action at the World Cup this summer, and that means he will be fresh and ready to play in the Super Cup final. The 25-year-old scored 18 goals in all competitions for the Parisians, 10 of which were scored en route to PSG's Champions League success.
