Watford v Leicester Prediction

Watford will be looking to go out on a high as they play their last two games of the Premier League season at Vicarage Road with the club down and out for two weeks now.

With Roy Hodgson announcing his departure at the end of the season from the club, Rob Edwards of title-winning League Two side, Forest Green, has now been appointed as the new manager for the Hornets ahead of the Championship campaign for 2022/23

Watford are also winless in their past seven games after losing to Liverpool, Leeds United, Brentford, Manchester City and Burnley on the bounce. They picked up a rare point in midweek as they played against Everton, but despite a relatively acceptable performance given their season, it's all well too late to take points off other sides competing to stay in the league.

Leicester got a win last time out as they edged past the other already-relegated side, Norwich City. Jamie Vardy returned to the starting XI with two goals in the second half, as James Maddison got another goal that day too. Harvey Barnes put in another brilliant display as he assisted both of Vardy's goals.

We're backing Vardy to get in on the act here, as he loves playing against those lower in the table this season.

Watford team news

Watford are the most injury-hit side in the Premier League just as they have been for most of the campaign. The club have 10 injuries to report as Emmanuel Dennis and Ismalia Sarr face late fitness tests from knee injuries to get back before the end of the season. Imran Louza, Juraj Kucka, and Hassane Kamara are out for the season, while Kiko Femenia and Josh King are set to face late fitness tests as they recover from a virus. Nicolas Nkoulou is unlikely to play with a groin strain as Tom Cleverley remains a doubt with a rib injury. Hernandez should return next week too.

The injuries will keep Sema, Kalu and J.P up top, with Gosling and Kayembe coming into the midfield with captain Moussa Sissoko to play another game. Etebo, Craig Cathcart and Daniel Bachmann will be competing for a starting role here, although Ben Foster's form likely keeps him in the side. James Morris, Tiago Cuku, Jack Grieves, and Adrian Blake were the youngsters on the bench last time out and this could remain.

Leicester team news

Leicester will aim to give a run out to some of those who have struggled to get into the side as of late, with nothing to play for but a few moves up the table in the final few games of the season. Against an already-relegated Watford, this could bring in some more youth stays, while Luke Thomas, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Marc Albrighton should get minutes, Caglar Soyuncu was an unused sub against Norwich and he should get minutes here too. Vardy will likely start once more as he has missed much of the season becuase of injury, while Maddison and Barnes likely start once more alongside Ademola Lookman. Timothy Castagne, Daniel Amartey, Jonny Evans and James Justin should remain in the back four as well, with Kasper Schmeichel playing another game on the bounce in the Premier League.

Wesley Fofana is nearing a return and will likely get some minutes in this one or on the final day of the campaign. Ricardo Pereira, Ryan Bertrand, and Wilfred Ndidi remain out until the new season.
