Betting Hub: Most Likely Games for Over 2.5 Goals This Weekend

Top of the table Hearts take on sixth-placed Queen of the South at Tynecastle on Saturday, looking to extend their 16-point lead on Raith Rovers.

The Edinburgh club are the top scorers in the league this season, having scored 48 goals in 21 games, whilst Queen of the South have the second-worst defence in the division, conceding 42 times.

The last time Hearts were involved in a game with over 2.5 goals in it was against Dundee on 6th March in a 2-1 home win, whilst four of Queen of the South’s last five matches have had landed in this market, as they have scored 10 and conceded eight in the four fixtures that have yielded over 2.5 goals.

Queen of the South will be hoping to improve on their last visit to Tynecastle which was in December when they were thumped 6-1 by the Jam Tarts with Steven Naismith, Liam Boyce (2), Jamie Walker, Elliot Frear and Josh Ginnelly all getting on the scoresheet.

The next game on this list also comes from the Scottish Championship, as Dundee face Dunfermline Athletic at the Kilmac Stadium.

These two sides have been nip and tuck in the league, as the visitors come into this game in third place, leading Dundee on goal difference having played 20 matches, one more than the hosts.

Four of Dundee’s last five matches have seen the over 2.5 goals market land against Inverness, Hearts, Ayr United and Alloa Athletic.

Meanwhile, Dunfermline haven’t been involved in a game with over 2.5 goals in it since their 2-1 win at home to Alloa on 20th February.

The last meeting between these two sides resulted in a 3-3 draw at the Kilmac Stadium in December, where three goals in the last 12 minutes rescued Dunfermline an unlikely point, having fallen behind to goals from Charlie Adam, Osman Sow and Liam Fontaine.

This weekend Leyton Orient take on Oldham Athletic at Brisbane Road, where the O’s will need to win if they are to have a late playoff push.

Orient are 11th in the league, seven points off the playoffs with ten games remaining, whilst Oldham have little chance of being dragged into a relegation battle or putting pressure on the playoffs in 15th.

The last time Orient were involved in a game that yielded over 2.5 goals in it was back on 6th March when they lost 4-0 away at Exeter City, whilst Oldham’s last match, ironically against the same opponents in midweek saw the Latics come out as 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Kyle Jameson and Alfie McCalmont.

Oldham are the second top scorers in League Two with 54 goals in 37 matches, but also have the worst defensive record having leaked 62.

Saturday sees a crucial match in League One take place, as playoff pushing MK Dons face automatic promotion-chasing Doncaster Rovers at Stadium MK.

MK are currently five points off the playoff places, whilst Doncaster are nine points behind second-placed Peterborough United with two games in hand, as Donny sit in fifth place.

Russell Martin’s side are on a good run of form at present, having won their last three matches against Accrington Stanley, Plymouth Argyle and Burton Albion, which has seen over 2.5 goals scored in each fixture.

Doncaster’s last two games have had over 2.5 goals in them in a 3-0 loss at Oxford last weekend, before drawing 2-2 with Gillingham in midweek.

This game should be filled with goals on paper, as MK have scored 54 and conceded 52 goals in 37 matches, with the visitors finding the back of the net 53 times in 34 games.

The final game on this list also comes from League One, as second-placed Peterborough take on Accrington Stanley in what is a must-win game for both teams if they are to achieve their ambitions this season.

Peterborough are currently just two points ahead of third-placed Sunderland who have a game in hand on the Posh following a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night.

Darren Ferguson’s sides loss to the Tangerines means that four of their last five matches have yielded over 2.5 goals in what has been a patchy month of form for Peterborough, having only recorded one win this term against Portsmouth on 16th March.

Accrington have also had a poor month of results, recording two wins against Wigan Athletic and Swindon Town, as well as losing to Sunderland, MK Dons and Bristol Rovers. With the exception of their 2-0 loss to Sunderland on 17th March, all of the mentioned games saw the over 2.5 goals markets land.
