This week for Arsenal could be pivotal, given how in the space of eight days they would have faced Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Chelsea at the weekend. Following their excellent performance against Spurs in the North London Derby, which had seen Mikel Arteta's side extend their lead to six points at the top of the league and 11 points ahead of Liverpool, who are the reigning league champions.
Arsenal are also on the hunt for their maiden Champions League triumph, having reached only one final in 2006, and with the expectations seemingly lifted for the Gunners, this could be the year where Arteta provides Arsenal with more than just the Premier League title.
The home side comes into this game in excellent form, with no losses in their previous 15 matches in all competitions and with a perfect record in this season's Champions League with four wins from four. More impressively, you will have to go back to May of last season to find Arsenal's last home defeat at the Emirates Stadium.
As for Bayern Munich, they are also in excellent form, with no losses in 21 matches across all competitions and a perfect record in Europe, as they currently edge out Arsenal in the Champions League standings.
