Braga have already played three competitive games this season in qualifiers for the Europa League and have claimed two wins and a draw, with the wins coming in the form of a 2-0 victory over Maccabi Petah Tikva and a 5-0 win over the same opponent.

Braga finished 4th place in the league table last season, ten places above Estrela, and did the double over them last season, winning 4-2 and 3-0.
