14:30 - Royal Ascot - Wild Blossom

Day 2 of Royal Ascot kicks off with the Group Two Queen Mary Stakes. Wild Blossom made a striking impression on rules debut last month, easily dispatching a fairly talented group.

She eventually finished ten lengths clear of Crownbreaker, who could re-oppose in this race. Karl Burke’s runners in this race should be respected, as the yard has won two of the last four editions.

Sire Mehmas was a high-class juvenile, winning the July and Richmond Stakes.

15:05 - Royal Ascot - Galiyan

Next up is the Group Two Queen’s Vase. Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy teamed up for success in this race back in 2019, and they could have another leading chance on Wednesday.

Galiyan is progressing excellently for the yard, and he took his form to a new level when easily beating the talented Joulany by over two lengths on his first attempt over a mile and four at Chester.

This step up in trip should bring out more improvement, and he could be a challenging contender to overlook.

15:40 - Royal Ascot - Friendly Soul

The Group Two Duke of Cambridge Stakes is next up, with the field completing a distance of a mile.

Friendly Soul was well below her usual best when returning from a 594-day break at Haydock in May. She clearly would have needed that run, and she could still retain plenty of the ability that saw her rack up a trio of group races in the summer of 2024.

Previously won over course and distance in July of the same year.

16:20 - Royal Ascot - Ombudsman

A high-quality renewal of the Group One Prince Of Wales’s Stakes is set for Day Two of Royal Ascot.

Daryz is an obvious chance, but Ombudsman could be the balance play for the John & Thady Gosden yard. The five-year-old was an excellent winner of this race 12 months ago, easily beating Anmaat by two lengths.

Has since followed up with victories in the Group One International, Group One Dubai Turf, and Group Three Brigadier Gerard.

17:00 - Royal Ascot - Update

The big betting race on Day Two comes in the form of the Royal Hunt Cup.

Fifth Column has been ideally drawn for the John & Thady Gosden team, and has looked back to his best based on his previous effort when second at Newmarket.

Has course form in the book, including a credible seventh in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot 12 months ago.

17:35 - Royal Ascot - Zgharta

The competitive Kensington Palace Stakes is the penultimate race on the Ascot card on Day Two.

Zgharta looks like a standout play for the Andrew Balding yard. The four-year-old likely needed the run when well beaten over course and distance in May.

Was high quality throughout last season, including a win at Newmarket and a competitive effort over course and distance in June.

18:10 - Royal Ascot - Green Sovereign

Day Two of Royal Ascot rounds off with the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes. Green Sovereign looks to be a colt that is rapidly improving for the Harry Eustace team.

The two-year-old was well-beaten on debut on the all-weather, but he came alive on the turf at Pontefract last month when easily putting six lengths between himself and the field.

Should be competitive based on RPRs, and his sire was a winner of a Group Three as a juvenile.
