          Denmark vs Spain Prediction

This will be a close game between two strong teams, but we expect the visitors Spain to come out on top with a narrow victory. Spain have been in excellent form this calendar year, having remained unbeaten in 14 consecutive fixtures including three straight wins. La Roja have shown a great attacking threat in recent games, scoring first in four of their previous five.

Denmark have not been involved in high-scoring affairs in recent games, as they have seen less than 2.5 goals scored in seven of their previous eight. Spain have won their last five in this fixture, with the game ending 1-0 to the European Champions back in October – Denmark 0-1 Spain

Denmark vs Spain: Preview & Prediction

Denmark host Spain in the fifth game of the Nations League group stages, with both teams vying for top spot in the table.

          Date: 15/11/24

          Kick-off time: 19:45

          Venue: Parken

This is a crucial game in determining who goes through to the next stage as group winners. A point for Spain ensures they finish in the top two as they currently sit in first with 10 points. A victory would confirm their status as group winners. They are unbeaten so far with three wins and a draw, with their only dropped points coming against Serbia in the opening game. Luis de la Fuente’s side have continued their dominance following their Euros triumph.

Looking to stop them is a strong Denmark side with plenty of Premier League talent. They trail leaders Spain by just three points, knowing a victory could see them overtake their opponents. A point may be enough to finish second, depending on the result of the other fixture in the group.

Goals may be hard to come by for the hosts due to Spain’s impressive defensive record in the tournament. In four games, they have conceded just once, and this came in a 4-1 win over Switzerland. Denmark have had similar defensive success, allowing three goals with two clean sheets. However, emphasis will be on their attack if they are to come away with three points. Man United’s Rasmus Hojlund will likely lead the line as he still searches for his first goal of the competition. He has scored just twice for United in all competitions this season.

Despite opening the Nations League with a goalless draw, Spain have been potent in front of goal having scored seven in their last three. They have spread the goals out as Fabian Ruiz leads the way with two strikes. This could be an opportunity for different players to get an opportunity, in particular Porto’s Samu Omorodion. The 20-year-old has impressed early, scoring a combined 11 goals in the league and Europe.

This will be the 18th meeting between these two countries, and as expected, Spain have been the superior side. They have 13 wins overall, losing just twice. However, games have been scarce in recent years with the reverse fixture in October the first since 2008. Spain are currently on a five-game winning streak against their opponents and have won seven of the last eight dating back to 1993. October saw the Spaniards win 1-0 at home with a winner from Martin Zubimendi.

          Team News

          Denmark

There is plenty of Premier League representation in the squad with Joachim Andersen, Jannik Vestergaard, Christian Norgaard, Christian Eriksen, Rasmus Hojlund and Mikel Damsgaard all set to play important roles.

          Spain

Dani Olmo and Nico Williams return to the squad after missing out last time through injury. Barcelona youngster Marc Casado has been called up for the first time. Alvaro Morata has been included though it remains to be seen if he plays a part. Samu Omorodion will be hoping for an opportunity after a fantastic start to the season.

          Form Guide

          Denmark:

In their last five games, Denmark have won two, lost two and drawn one. It has been an inconsistent stretch for the Danish side, though they picked up a point in their latest game at Switzerland. Remo Freuler opened the scoring for the hosts before Gustav Isaksen responded almost immediately. The Swiss went ahead once more on the stroke of half-time, but Christian Eriksen ensured the points would be shared with a second half equaliser.

This followed their first defeat in the Nations League, a 1-0 loss to Spain. Martin Zubimendi scored the winner with 11 minutes to go. A visit from Serbia saw Denmark record a 2-0 win, as Albert Grønbæk and Yussuf Poulsen scored either side of half-time. This made it two wins in a row after they beat Switzerland by the same scoreline. Their opponents had two men sent off, and goals from Patrick Dorgu and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg made sure they took advantage.

The first game of this run was a Round of 16 defeat in the Euros. It came against hosts Germany where they were on the end of a 2-0 loss. Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala were the goalscorers for the Germans.

          Spain:

In their last five games, Spain have won four and drawn one. It has been a strong stretch for the European champions as they have brought their summer form into the Nations League. This run started with the game that crowned them, as they beat England 2-1 in the Euros final. Nico Williams and Mikel Oyarzabal scored either side of a Cole Palmer equaliser.

It was not the perfect start to their Nations League campaign as they were held to a goalless draw at Serbia. This is despite being the dominant side in shot attempts and possession. However, they quickly got back on track with a 4-1 win over Switzerland. Although they had a man sent off after 20 minutes, goals from Joselu, Fabian Ruiz (x2) and Ferran Torres ensured a comfortable evening.

Another win followed, this time a narrow 1-0 victory against Denmark. Martin Zubimendi scored the winner. Their most recent game was a 3-0 win over Serbia. Aymeric Laporte, Alvaro Morata and Alex Baena were all on the scoresheet.
