National League Winners Odds: Wrexham Odds

Bank-rolled by Hollywood duo Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, Wrexham are favourites to be crowned champions of the National League. And, having crashed out of the Football League in 2007/08, Wrexham have spent 13 years in the fifth tier of the English pyramid and look well placed to return this season.

After taking over the club in November 2020, McElhenney and Reynolds have wasted no time in prepping the side for promotion. Scoring 32 times as Cambridge United secured promotion to League One, talismanic striker, Paul Mullin, is the pick of the arrivals for the Welsh club.

Under the watchful eye of experienced manager, Phil Parkinson, it’s easy to see why Wrexham are fancied to come top of the pile. Expect a blockbuster of a season from Wrexham’s star-studded cast and the Wrexham odds to win the National League are priced at 10/3.

To win the National League Odds: Stockport County Odds

Another of the league’s big spenders, Stockport County, fell short in the play-offs last season but are tipped to go one better this time around. After suffering relegation from the Football League for the first time in 2010/11, County have since bounced about the fifth and sixth tiers, before earning promotion back to the National League in 2019 and this finally looks like their year.

Finishing third and qualifying for the playoff semi-finals last time out, County were knocked out in the last four by eventual winners Hartlepool United. Keen to avenge last season’s disappointment, Simon Rusk has dipped into the transfer market to strengthen his side.

Highly-rated Manchester United youngster, Will Fish, has joined on a season-long loan, whilst former Barrow striker, Scott Quigley, has been brought in to provide some goals. Likely to be contenders for top spot throughout the season, County are a healthy 4/1 to go up as league winners this campaign.

To win the National League Odds: Notts County odds

Once the oldest side in the Football League, Notts County are preparing for their third season in the National League after suffering the heartbreak of relegation in 2019. Twice qualifying for the play-offs in their short stint in the league, the Magpies have faced disappointment both times.

Firstly suffering a shock defeat in the 2020 final to Harrogate Town before a defeat in extra-time to Torquay United last season. Having captained Torquay in the play-off final, Kyle Cameron has made the switch to Notts County ahead of the new campaign, which is big news in these ranks.

The 24-year-old defender is one of just six new arrivals at Meadow Lane, as Ian Burchnall’s men look to avoid yet more play-off heartache. Notts County National League winner odds are priced at 8/1, which will be the third time of asking

National League Winners Odds: Chesterfield Odds

Yet another former Football League stalwart who have found themselves marooned in non-league, Chesterfield enter their fourth season in tier five desperate for promotion. Victims of a back-to-back relegation between 2016 and 2018, the Spireites finished mid-table in their first two seasons in the National League, before securing a play-off spot last time out.

Knocked out at the first stage by Notts County, Chesterfield will be looking to build on their highest league position since dropping down the divisions. Now, after taking over in November 2020, Chesterfield boss, James Rowe has been busy in his first summer transfer window in charge.

He has brought in seven new players so far this summer and the 38-year-old will be hoping a squad littered with talent will be able to challenge for the title this season. They are expected to be challengers this season, but whether or not Chesterfield will be able to maintain a title push for the duration of a campaign remains to be seen, but 9/1 says they will be up there.

National League Winners Odds: Grimsby Odds

Relegated to the National League just five seasons after earning promotion from the same division, Grimsby Town will be looking for an immediate return to League Two this season.

After crashing out of the fourth tier rock bottom of the division, Mariners boss, Paul Hurst, was unable to save the Lincolnshire side from the drop in his second spell as manager. In charge the last time Grimsby earned promotion from the National League, Hurst will be hoping history repeats itself in the 2021/22 campaign.

It’s been a busy pre-season so far for the 46-year-old manager, with 12 departures and 11 arrivals at Blundell Park so far. This includes Seb Revan, who was part of the Aston Villa side that stormed to FA Youth Cup victory earlier this year, and the highly-rated defender is expected to be one of their main men this season.

With a manager that knows the league inside out, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Grimsby up there once again and the Marines are 9/1 to go up as champions.
