Ones to Watch in the FA Cup This Weekend - 03/12/21

Buxton FC are currently the lowest-ranked team left in the FA Cup, they currently play their football in the Northern Premier League which is the seventh tier in the English football pyramid.

They beat National League North side York City in the first round of the FA Cup and now they host League One side Morecambe to try and progress and hopefully face Premier League and Championship sides in the third round.

Buxton have only had their manager Steve Cunningham since the 3rd November and now he has the opportunity to take the club to the third round of the FA Cup for only the second time in the club's history and the first since the 1951/52 season.

Stockport’s game in the first round of the FA Cup was as dramatic as it can get, an 85th-minute equaliser to send the game to extra time and two goals in extra time put them into the second round, knocking out Bolton Wanderers who are two divisions above them.

They now face the side that is top of League One, Rotherham United, this time away from and look to cause another upset.

Stockport are currently in the form that could cause an upset, they are unbeaten in their last seven games, winning five and scoring a combined 21 goals in their last five victories, and Rotherham are unbeaten in their last 16 matches, meaning it will probably be the biggest upset of the round if Stockport manages to get through.

St Albans is the last team left in the competition that competes in the National League South and last time out they beat Forest Green Rovers 3-2 at home, a team that is currently in League Two, two divisions above them.

They now face Boreham Wood, who are in the National League, the division above and they currently sit second in the league and are currently unbeaten in their last six games, only conceding twice in this run.

This is the sixth time in their history that St Albans have reached the second round of the FA Cup and they have never reached the third round of the FA Cup, the same as Boreham Wood, meaning the third round of the cup will see a new team after the result of this game.

Jebbison is 18 years old and is currently on loan at Burton Albion from Sheffield United until the end of the season, and in the last round against Fleetwood Town, he scored the winner to send his team to the second round.

Jebbison is second-youngest scorer from the first round proper in the FA Cup and he has currently scored in his last two appearances in League One, including two goals against Accrington Stanley.

At a young age and performing well, he could be one to watch for the future and if Burton can go on an FA Cup run, he could showcase his skills and with them coming up against League Two side Port Vale, they could get into the third round.

This tie is between two non-league sides, with Kidderminster currently sitting 4th in the National League North, whilst Halifax are in the division above, the National League and currently sit 3rd.

Kidderminster beat National League side Grimsby Town in the first round, and they sit fourth in the league, so they have shown to be capable of causing an upset, they are also in great form, they are unbeaten in their last nine matches, winning eight.

Kidderminster have reached the third round three times in their history and going as far as the fifth round in 1994, whilst this is the second time Halfiax have reached the 2nd round and will be looking to get to the third round for the first time for the chance of going on a historic cup run.
