Newcastle vs West Ham

Newcastle have made themselves hard to beat in recent weeks as they look to steer clear of the relegation zone. Steve Bruce’s side have grinded out results and lost just one game in their last six, but some fans may feel that they have missed out on points, with four of their last six being draws. However, every point is valuable in a relegation battle and these draws could prove to be pivotal by the end of the season.

On the other hand, West Ham United have arguably been the story of the season and picked up a huge three points against fellow Champions League contenders Leicester City last time out. The east London side are second in the form table over the last 15 games, much of which has been due to the signing of Jesse Lingard. Now the pressure is well and truly on the Hammers with Chelsea and Liverpool hot on their tails, and it will be interesting to see if they can cope as the season comes to a close, and we think their form will continue this weekend with a win at St. James’ Park.

We expect a close encounter, with West Ham just about edging. The away side are 21/20 to pick up three points and 11/4 to win the game by exactly one goal.

Our score prediction is 1-2 (7/1).

Wolves vs Sheffield United

Wolverhampton Wanderers host Sheffield United at Molineux in a game where neither side has much to play for, with Wolves unlikely to get into the top half but not in any real danger of being relegated. The season has been a bit of a write off for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side due to the injury of striker Raul Jimenez and with replacement Willian Jose, on loan from Real Sociedad failing to break his goalscoring duck, the club have relied on their defence in order to pick up points. This has resulted in them having the fourth best defensive record for home games in the Premier League.

Although it isn’t mathematically confirmed, Sheffield United seem to have accepted relegation now and are focussing the rest of the season on adapting to Paul Heckingbottom’s style, in preparation for next seasons Championship season. The Blades have scored just seven goals away from Bramall Lane this season and have failed to score in five of their last six away games.

We are going for another underwhelming display from the visitors and Sheffield United total goals to be zero is 1/1 with Sky Bet and our score prediction is 2-0.

Arsenal v Fulham

These two sides are placed 18th and 19th in the fair play table, with Arsenal picking up more red cards than anyone else in the division (5) and Fulham picking up the second most number of yellow cards (56). The Gunners will be hoping to improve their home form, having not won at the Emirates Stadium in their last three attempts in all competitions.

Fulham have been poor recently, losing their last four games, if they are to avoid the drop then they need to pick up points quickly and rediscover the form that we saw in February. This will mean that they will be desperate to get a result here and that eagerness or potential frustration could see them jump into challenges.

The game itself is a tough one to call, but we think it will be a scrappy affair with plenty of bookings.

Man United v Burnley

Manchester United look to be nailed on to finish second this season and are unbeaten in the league since January. With five wins in their last six games the Red Devils are showing no signs of taking their foot off of the gas. Despite this form, only two of United’s last 11 games in all competitions have seen over 3.5 goals.

Burnley are well known for being hard to beat and have seen under 3.5 goals in 11 of their last 13 games in all competitions. Sean Dyche’s side have scored just twice in their five away games against the ‘Big Six’, with both of these goals resulting in 1-0 wins. Burnley could get dragged further into the relegation battle if results go against them this weekend, but they will have their work cut out at Old Trafford - a ground they have scored two goals at on their last three occasions.

We feel that United will win the game, particularly if they rotate their squad for their Europa League second leg against Granada, but we don’t think it will be a high scoring affair.

United to win and under 3.5 goals is 1/1.

Leeds v Liverpool

Leeds United picked up their best result of the season last week with a win away at leaders Manchester City, despite having 10 men. With three wins on the bounce, they will be confident going into a similarly difficult game against Liverpool, in the reverse fixture of the thrilling 4-3 season opener at Anfield, where Mohamed Salah bagged a hat-trick.

Due to Marcelo Bielsa's highly energetic, fast-paced football, Leeds' fixtures tend to result in a lot of corners because of the end-to-end nature of their matches. There be 12+ corners in their last six games and they have had the fifth-highest number of corners in the league.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are pursuing a spot in the top four and a loss here could really hurt their chances, which would add to the disappointment of their midweek Champions League exit. We think they will be up for the challenge and go head-to-head in another entertaining game with Jurgen Klopp’s ‘gegenpressing’ on display. In a similar fashion to Leeds, this style of football has meant the Reds have been awarded the second-highest number of corners in the division.

We think Liverpool show their class in this one and get the win, but the stat that stands out is the number of corners, Sky Bet are offering odds of 11/8 for 12+ total corners.
