Our Premier League Tips for the Weekend - 04/12/21

The champions are in action on Saturday, with Manchester City travelling to Vicarage Road in the 5:30pm kick-off.

Pep Guardiola’s side can make it seven wins in a row in all competition, as they strive to retain their title, and in reality, nobody is stopping them right now. With Chelsea and Liverpool playing earlier in the day, it could see City needing a win to keep chase at the top of the table.

The Citizens are second going into the weekend’s games, one point adrift of the Blues and just one point ahead of the Reds and they love playing the Watford, having never been beaten in the Premier League by the Hornets.

The past three meetings in all competitions between these two have resulted in City wins with an aggregate score of 18-0.

The league leaders can extend their lead at the top and go points clear when they face a tricky trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham in Saturday’s early kick-off.

The west London outfit can make it 11 games without defeat in all competitions, stretching their run which has seen them pick up wins against the likes of Juventus, Leicester, and Brentford in the process.

As for West Ham, it’s been a great start to the season for the Hammers, who find themselves fourth after 13 games. Their good form has hit a bump in recent weeks though, with defeats against Wolves and Manchester City in their previous two games and a late equaliser from Brighton in midweek dropped a further two points.

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur will go in search of a third consecutive win in the Premier League when they host Norwich on Sunday. Conte rallied his troops in their game against Leeds United before beating Brentford on Thursday in what was probably their most comfortable performance since the Italian took charge.

It means their new manager has picked up a draw and two wins in his three Premier League games so far and he is clearly the right appointment right now. Now, the north London outfit are seventh and could climb as high as fourth with a win.

Norwich City have looked better since the arrival of Dean Smith, with the Canaries unbeaten in their last four league games. They’re still in the deep end though and in the relegation zone, three points from safety.

Brentford have surprised many so far this season after a good start to life in the Premier League as hey make the journey to Elland Road on Sunday to take on Leeds United.

The Bees have picked up some impressive wins so far this season, beating West Ham and Wolves away from home as well as picking up wins against Arsenal and Everton.

Thomas Frank’s men slipped up a bit recently but returned to winning ways with the win at home to the Toffees last weekend as Toney managed score his first goal at home in the Premier Legaue.

Eddie Howe will be hopeful of picking up his first win in charge of Newcastle United, when the Magpies entertain Burnley on Saturday. Newcastle could only take a point from their last game, a 1-1 draw with Norwich on Tuesday night and after Ciaran Clark was sent off inside 10 minutes, they were a bit fortunate to even get a point.

It leaves the North East side stranded at the bottom of the table with no wins on the board so far. Eddie Howe has talked about the positives, and surely it can’t be long until Newcastle get their first victory of the season. Burnley themselves are in the bottom three, after just one win in the league this season.
