Aaron Ramsey Transfer News & Odds

Here we take a look at all of Aaron Ramsey’s transfer news and odds as the Wales international looks set to leave Juventus with just 12 months remaining on his contract in Turin.

Last season, Ramsey spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Rangers having played just 98 minutes of first-team action in Serie A prior to his move to Ibrox. Juventus are also looking to cut their wage bill ahead of the forthcoming campaign, as at present they are struggling to agree on a fee for Alvaro Morata, whilst Ramsey is on a reported £400,000 per week.

Since joining the Old Lady from Arsenal back in 2019, Ramsey has played just 70 times, scoring six and assisting six, winning the Serie A title in 2019/20, as well as the Coppa Italia in 2020/21 and the Supercoppa Italiana in 2020.

Rangers

Rangers will likely be keen on re-signing Ramsey for the forthcoming season despite a slightly underwhelming loan spell at Ibrox, with Giovanni van Bronkhorst knowing that the 31-year-old still has a lot to offer to his side in terms of quality and experience.

Ramsey managed to make 13 appearances for the Gers in the second half of the season, scoring twice and creating two goals as they went on to pick up the Scottish Cup after suffering heartbreak in the Europa League final where the Welshman was the only man not to score in the penalty shootout against Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, Rangers will likely want to sign Ramsey due to his quality, as well as the fact that he has a lot of experience of playing for elite clubs such as Arsenal and Juve.

Newcastle United

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Ramsey as far back as January, however, could this be their time to snap up the former Arsenal man?

The Magpies look a very different proposition since January, following the superb job that Eddie Howe has done at St James’ Park, combined with their riches provided by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund.

In the January Transfer Window, the Toon Army spent moderately on key signings such as Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn, Bruno Guimaraes and Chris Wood which was sensible, as it means that they are not setting a precedent for other clubs to charge them hefty and inflated transfer fees.

The signing of Ramsey could be cheap considering the quality of player they’d be getting, on top of the fact that it would allow the Magpies to spend larger amounts elsewhere on their playing staff.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa have started the summer transfer window with plenty of ambition, following the signings of Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara, significantly strengthening their defensive structure. Could the free signing of Ramsey also be on the cards?

Steven Gerrard’s men managed to sign Lucas Digne and Philippe Coutinho in the January transfer window, and have been linked with the likes of Luis Suarez in what looks set to be a busy transfer window for the Villains who look to be aiming to reach the European places in the near future.

The signing of Ramsey for a cut-price deal from Juventus could offer Villa a lot of value in the short term due to his knack for scoring goals and creating chances.

Everton

A move to Everton could be on the cards if the Toffees struggle to meet Financial Fairplay regulations once again, as they did last summer when they spent just £1.8m.

Ramsey would inevitably be available on loan or a cut-price deal so that Juve can shift him off their wage books, with a move to the blue half of Merseyside possibly being a good deal for both parties.

With Everton seeing the likes of Donny van de Beek go back to Manchester United following the end of his loan spell at Goodison Park, Ramsey could be a good option to bring in on a short term deal whilst offering the Toffees some creativity and fluid passing which they desperately lack, having only managed 43 goals in 38 matches.

MLS

At the age of 31, could a move to the MLS be on the Welshman’s mind?

We have seen a number of British players make a move to Major League Soccer in the latter stages of their careers, such as David Beckham, Robbie Keane, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney. With plenty still to offer, Ramsey would undoubtedly be an attractive acquisition for any club in the U.S.

Inter Miami are a side that springs to mind, with fellow Brits such as Beckham being the owner, whilst Phil Neville is manager, whilst ex-Juventus star Gonzalo Higuain and former Arsenal teammate Kieran Gibbs ply their trades there.

Cardiff City

The final club on this list is one of Ramsey’s former clubs in Cardiff City, who are reportedly trying to sign Gareth Bale following Wales’ qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

It would be some transfer window for the Bluebirds if they were to sign one of Bale or Ramsey. The hype would be surreal if they managed to seal the deal and sign two of Wales’ all-time greats though.

Ramsey started his youth career at Cardiff in 1999 and stayed with the Bluebirds up until 2008 when Arsenal snapped him up for £4.8m. The 31-year-old clearly has a good relationship with his former club, having also returned there on loan back in 2011.

Could Ramsey add to his 28 appearances for Cardiff next season?
