Brentford goalkeeper David Raya looks set to leave the Gtech Community Stadium this summer, with the Spaniard having just one year left on his current contract.

During his time at the Bees, Raya has made a total of 150 league appearances since signing for an undisclosed fee in July 2019 from Blackburn Rovers. The 27-year-old managed to win the Championship Golden Glove in his first season at Brentford, while also earning promotion to the Premier League with Thomas Frank’s side in 2020/21.

On top of this, the Bees have recently announced the signing of Netherlands international goalkeeper Mark Flekken from German Bundesliga outfit Freiburg, with the 29-year-old expected to fill the impending void that will be left by Raya’s departure.

Tottenham are the favourites to sign Raya this summer, with the Lilywhites on the lookout for a new goalkeeper to replace club captain Hugo Lloris who has just one year left on his current contract and has been linked with various moves to Saudi Arabia.

With Raya being a more progressive goalkeeper than the likes of Lloris in terms of high claims and ball distribution, this could potentially be a good move for whichever manager takes the reins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Raya has also been linked with a potential move to Old Trafford this summer, with the Bees looking to sell the Spaniard for around £40m.

Manchester United’s goalkeeper situation is a complicated one, as David De Gea is rumoured to be extending his stay at the club on reduced terms, while potentially dropping down to a back-up role.

On top of this, loanee Jack Butland has since moved to Rangers following the end of his contract, while Tom Heaton’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign. Dean Henderson is expected to leave on a permanent basis to Nottingham Forest in order to give United more leeway when it comes to FFP rules.

Chelsea are another Premier League giant in need of a new goalkeeper, following the shortcomings of Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga at Stamford Bridge.

Mendy is known for being a good shot-stopper but poor in terms of distribution, while Kepa hasn’t lived up to the world-record £71.6m price tag that was paid for him under the management of Maurizio Sarri.

Raya is known for being a well-rounded goalkeeper, with strong distribution and cross-claiming skills, on top of the fact that the 27-year-old made more saves than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League during the 2022/23 campaign (154).

Aston Villa are outsiders to sign Raya mainly due to the fact that there are circumstances that need to take place to firm up the Villans' interest.

Argentina’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has frequently stated that he wants to play in the Champions League; and with many European giants on the lookout for a goalkeeper, perhaps there will be some interest in the 30-year-old’s services.

On top of this, Robin Olsen hasn’t managed to challenge the Argentine goalkeeper, meaning that if the ex-Arsenal man was to leave Villa Park, a move for Raya would be a good option.

Atletico Madrid are surprise outsiders to take Raya back to his homeland, however, there is a feeling around the Wanda Metropolitano that Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak may have seen better days during his Atleti career.

The 30-year-old didn’t feature in any of Atletico’s last seven league matches of the season and has often been linked with moves away to other European giants. Perhaps with Raya offering a more modern style of goalkeeper, there is a chance that the 27-year-old could be on the shortlist to replace Oblak.
