The search for solidity in Manchester united's team continues to evade them as they have an elite force in attack, one of the world's best goalkeepers and a decent defence with the addition of Raphael Varane, but in midfield, it's absolutely shambolic.
Fred just hasn't worked out, Paul Pogba too, Scott McTominay is about as inconsistent as it gets, and Donny van de Beek can't buy minutes on the pitch at Old Trafford. The likes of Denis Zakaria consistently get brought into the question as a result and alongside fellow Bundesliga star, Amadou Haidara, Ralf Rangnick is a massive fan of him.
Rangnick's days at Schalke and RB Leipzig in Germany have seen him grow very fond of defensive midfielders of this ilk and in reality, it's pretty much all United need right now with much of the positions around the squad seemingly sorted.
Reports are suggesting that Zakaria can be prized away for around £6m right now, and at 25, it's an absolute steal. The Switzerland international is out of contract in the summer so Borussia Monchengladbach wants to cash in while they can, and to put in perspective that £6m, it's about four months worth of wages for Paul Pogba.
It would be incredible if Rangnick and United didn't go in for them, and at 8/1, it doesn't seem to be an option and they would seemingly rather wait until the summer.
