Gabriel Barbosa Odds: West Ham

Gabriel Barbosa has been a man within the rumour mill of the transfer market for some time and he continues to be one of Brazil's greatest goalscorers in today's world, and it is perhaps surprising to many to hear he is only 25 years old.

Following a successful period at Santos where he scored 56 goals in 154 appearances before he was in his 20s, Gabriel was regarded as the next best thing coming out of Brazil and heading to Europe. A move to Inter Milan would follow, but with just one Serie A goal and only 10 appearances for them, loan moves to Benfica, Santos, and Flamengo would come.

Just one goal in five appearances came in another pointless move to Benfica, but when he returned to Brazil, the striker netted 27 times with his former club in one season, and then 43 in 59 with Flamengo. This forced the move to be permanent and he has since gone on to score 27 goals in 43 games in 2020, and 33 in 43 in 2021.

He has been on fire since his return to his homeland, and following poor moves to Inter and Benfica, grabbing all this experience back in Brazil could mean it's the perfect time to move back onto football's biggest continent.

West Ham are also on the lookout for more names up top with Michail Antonio approaching his 32nd birthday, while Sebastien Haller moved last year to Ajax, just as Andriy Yarmolenko continues to struggle to get into the side. It would be a tremendous signing for West Ham given what they need, but only time will tell if Gabriel is ready for the European move.

The Gabriel odds are at 3/1 to head to London with the Hammers.

Gabriel Barbosa Odds: Newcastle

As is the case with things these days in the Premier League transfer rumours, if you're a top player, your name is set to be linked to Newcastle United amidst their first transfer window with their new multi-billionaire owners.

Gabriel is a name that fits into the billing for the Magpies more so, as it's more realistic than the likes of Kylian Mabppe, Antonie Greizmann, and other elite names that simply just wouldn't make the move. Players like Anthony Martial remain a top priority for Newcastle, but with Callum Wilson's recent injury causing further issues for Eddie Howe, a striker has to be a priority for them this January.

Gabriel also wouldn't have much hesitancy in turning the move down over a new contract in Brazil, should no other club go in for him that much, as the wages and potential transfer fee Newcastle can offer would be far greater than most can boast.

Newcastle need him, he reportedly wants a move back to Europe, and everything seems to align for this one quite well. Howe should do all he can to make Gabriel the Magpies first major signing of this new era. The Gabriel odds sit at 7/1 to head to St. James' Park.

Gabriel Barbosa Transfer Odds: Spurs

When Gabriel moved to Inter back in 2016, he faced immediate competition from the likes of Mauro Icardi, and in reality, there was no way he was getting in ahead of the Argentine those days and looking back on things now, it was not a smart move whatsoever for him.

Moving to Spurs would be the exact same thing as Harry Kane remains at the club, has a further two years left on his deal, and in truth, the time may well have passed for him to move elsewhere. This can't be ruled out, but in the immediate future and with Spurs improving under Antonio Conte, Kane may end up staying with them.

The club do still need a backup striker regardless, with Fernando Llorente's role as the second striker yet to be replaced and Gabriel would fit this nicely for Spurs as they would be getting a natural goalscorer at the age of 25.

On the other hand, for the Brazilian himself, it would be no different to the troublesome move he experienced with Inter if Kane remains at the club, and rightfully so, the Gabriel Barbosa odds to move to north London sit at 12/1.
